Easy Ladybug Cookies
Aren’t these little ladybug cookies the most adorable cookies!? And my favorite part about these Ladybug cookies is how amazingly easy they are!
Because you can make these using store bought cookie mix, they are a great activity to do with the kids and would be a perfect cookie recipe for Valentine’s Day You can bake the cookies and let the kid’s help decorate them. These little lady bug cookies would also be darling for a party or spring classroom event.
Ingredients for making Ladybug Cookies
- Chocolate Cookie Dough
- Red Melting Chocolate
- White Melting Chocolate
- Googly Candy Eyes
- Black Gel Decorating Icing
How to make cookies that look like Ladybugs
- Once you have the cookie dough made, roll it into 1 to 1 1/2 inch balls.
- Bake cookies according to instructions. Let cool completely.
- Melt your red chocolate in the microwave in 20 second intervals, stirring frequently until melted down.
- Dip half of the cookies in the red chocolate and lay on a cookie sheet. Allow them to set.
- Melt down your white chocolate.
- Attach the candy eyes to the cookie by dipping the back side of your candy eyes in the white chocolate and attaching them to the top of the cookie on the ladybug’s head.
- Once all chocolate is set, you can decorate your red chocolate portion of the cookie with the black gel icing, as shown.
*Notes for Making Ladybug Cookies:
You could also make or use ready made sugar cookie dough if you wanted to make ladybug sugar cookies.
Instead of making small dots or small circles with the black icing, you could make little heart patterns on the body of each ladybug.
No cookie cutters are needed, but if you wanted perfect circles then you could use cookie cutter shapes.
