Homemade Easy Bread
We have a favorite bread around here and we call it: Easy Bread. It’s called Easy Bread for a reason, it’s so simple! It’s also a family favorite around here because it makes a very mean and amazing grilled cheese sandwich. So good and again, this recipe for easy homemade bread is beyond simple. A mom win that the whole family loves!
How to make Homemade Easy Bread
What you will need to make homemade Easy Bread:
3 Cups Warm Water (almost hot)
1 package Yeast (or 2 1/2 tsps)
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 cup sugar
5-6 cups flour (I have used many kinds of flour with this bread, so experiment and see what you like best)
First of all, combine your water, yeast, sugar and salt and let them sit for 5 minutes.
Slowly start adding in your flour, and by the 4th or 5th cup of flour, I am usually using my hands.
Add in flour as you need it (I usually use the full 6 cups)
Kneading Homemade Easy Bread
Continue kneading with your hands until dough is in a ball and is somewhat elastic.
Spray a bowl with cooking spray and leave the dough ball in there for rise (covered) for about an hour.
Now separate the dough into two parts (with floured hands) and knead each ball a little and then shape into a loaf and set each into a sprayed bread loaf pan. I then cover them with sprayed plastic wrap (to prevent sticking) and then cover that with a towel and put them up again for another hour to rise.
You know what I love about this easy bread recipe? I love that even my kids can help with it!
They’ve been helping me knead this dough since they were just little and considering that we make this quite often, it’s a huge help!
How long to bake your homemade bread
Now you are ready to bake them for 20-25 minutes in a 350 oven.
This recipe really is SO easy and while the total time is over 2 hours (almost 3), it only takes a quick minute to do each step, which is why I can fit this into my day so easily.

Thanks so much for the bread recipe. Can’t wait to try it!
I made this this evening and you are right, it is a breeze and tastes so good! I’ve got very little experience making bread, but somehow I managed NOT to screw this up. Thanks so much for sharing!
Yay, thanks for sharing Lisa, it’s good to know that my directions work, lol! It really is one of our favorites so I am so glad that you liked it!
Made this today. Used whole wheat flour and added grated extra sharp cheese, grated asiago cheese and chives. Man my kitchen smells good.
Can we use all purpose flour? We don’t have to put baking soda or baking powder in it? Also can I bake this in my bread maker machine?
Hi, this looks really good. I can’t wait to try the recipe sometime this week. One question, if I am in a high altitude state do i need to make any modifications to the recipe? Thank you for sharing! 🙂
Anne…I am not sure… I wish I knew, sorry!
Cathy, that sounds wonderful! I bet it does smell amazing!
Susan, yes all purpose flour works just fine. No soda or powder needed, and I would say no on the bread machine but I am not certain 🙂
Do you know if this bread freezes well?
Just wanted to stop back by and tell you how yummy this bread is!!! My two boys and I just ate a wonderful warm slice with butter…and it was out of this world! I made it with 2/3 whole wheat flour and 1/3 all purpose…so very easy…just like you said. Thanks for sharing. It will go great with the 3 bean soup I’m making for dinner!
Your recipie is about like the one I use. Only make 1 loaf at a time , use 2 cups water the same amount of salt and 3 Tablespoons sugar, and 3 cups flour.Imake it in the bread machine . Let in for 80 minutes while it is rising , take it out of the machine punch it down with a little flour shape it and put it in a bread pan, let rise , and bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Is great bread!! Freezes well to although we never have any left to freeze.
Thank you for this Recipe.I look forward to try tomorrow.Sounds Delicious.
