If you love Rice Krispie treats as much as I do, then you will really love my Easy Chocolate Cherry Rice Krispie Treats recipe. It’s a new twist on an old favorite and one of my hubbies new common requests. I love that it is affordable and very easy to make, and he loves that they are delicious and quick! *meaning that they can be in his belly within a 1/2 hour of requesting them 🙂
These are perfect for packing along as snacks and they go great in lunches. Plus, the cherry chocolate combination gives it an extra flavor zing that my kids love too!
1 ½ Tablespoons Butter
2 cups Mini Marshmallows
3 cups Rice Crispy Cereal
½ cup Dried Cherries
¼ cup Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips
Chop the dried cherries into smaller pieces. Microwave the butter and the marshmallows together in a large bowl for about 2 minutes until the marshmallows are soft and puffed.
Once marshmallows are softened, gently stir in the cereal and the cherry pieces until everything has been coated with marshmallow. Stir in the chocolate chips right before placing to the pan.
Pat the mixture into a greased 8×8 baking dish. Cool and cut into squares to serve. Enjoy!
