Lego Party Planning Ideas in a Snap
If you’ve got a Lego obsessed child in your home (who doesn’t?), a Lego party may be in your future! Building a great foundation for your Lego party may seem daunting but, with a little creativity and a few planned details, you can throw a celebration any Lego fanatic will love! Jennifer Carver, from Spaceships and Laser Beams, is here to share some easy-to-implement Lego party planning ideas anyone can do! Jen will walk you through some of the party basics to help you get a firm foundation in place: invitations, decorations and delicious refreshments.
First, create excitement for your Lego party by purchasing or crafting Lego inspired invitations. There are many awesome printable Lego themed invitations online that can even be printed from home. Or, better yet, make your own! Using cardstock, a circle punch and paper cutter, recreate the look of a Lego brick. Attach all of the pertinent party information on the back of your invitation. Use theme appropriate wording like “Come help us build a great birthday” or “Brick by brick and block by block, my birthday party will really rock”. Want to kick your invitations up a notch? Include a small bag full of Lego pieces to really get guests excited!
Decorations & Party Favors
Take inspiration from Lego building blocks and their colors and transfer it to your party decorations. Start with your own child’s Lego collection and use that as the foundation for your décor. Apothecary jars and bowls can be filled with colorful Legos to give pops of color throughout the party space. Recreate the Lego brick look, creating 3-D versions by gift wrapping rectangle shaped boxes (Caprisun boxes work well). Paint or wrap Styrofoam discs to adhere to the top of your bricks. Use these oversized Legos as centerpieces or stack them as an appealing backdrop for your refreshment station. Bring in the Lego colors (red, yellow, blue, green) in other ways, such as balloons, buntings and banners, tablecloths and table settings. Get creative with a black Sharpie marker or black vinyl and add Lego man faces to yellow paper plates and cups. Add some personalization to the party space by printing out name or happy birthday banners using a Lego inspired font. If time is limited and you have a budget, consider some of these fun Building Block party additions:
If you want to carry the Lego feel into your refreshments, there are many simple ingredient and easy-step recipes to choose from. Lego man marshmallow pops can be made in minutes using marshmallows, candy melts, a sucker stick and edible ink pen. Sugar cookies are a beloved birthday dessert. Either buy prepared sugar cookie dough or whip up your favorite recipe. Use circle and rectangle shaped cookie cutters to create Lego cookies. If you want a no-bake option, how about frosting graham crackers and attaching candy melt covered marshmallows?
Healthier menu options can also be made to resemble Lego bricks. Sandwiches, cheese, crackers and fruit can all be cut to look like the popular building toy.
See how easy it is to set the foundation for an amazing Lego party? Just throw in some free building time and you’ve created an unbelievable celebration for your child! Who knew Lego party planning could be such a snap?
