How to Make GRASS Icing on Cupcakes

Fill 3/4 decorating bag with green icing and attach a Wilton #233 tip. (this is the grass tip most recommended)

Hold the decorating piping bag straight up and squeeze to create a glass blade.

Immediately after squeezing pull up and away when the icing strand is about 1/2 inch. Stop squeezing and pull tip away.

Be sure to keep the strands together so none of the cupcake shows through.

NOTE: for a more natural grass look, you can pull the tip slightly to the left or right.

Visit Wilton’s website HERE for a video tutorial.

Insert a golf tee in the middle of each cupcake.

Tips for Making Golf Cupcakes

For the golf ball, you can use a large white gumball OR Lindt white chocolate truffle (you will need to unwrap each individual truffle) and place on top of the golf tees. I also think you could make fondant golf balls if you have experience with fondant, which I do not. No need for a store bought golf cupcake topper, when you can make your own, right?

*also note: if you are worried about the “golf ball” falling off, a dab of frosting on the top of the golf tee should do the trick to hold it in place.

If you are transporting the cupcakes to the event or party, you can add the golf tee and ball to the cupcake once you arrive at your destination. I usually like to transport my cupcakes in cupcake cases.
