Asparagus Crescent Rolls

Ingredients for making Asparagus Crescent Rolls

1 Can Pillsbury Crescent Rolls (8 Count)
8 Asparagus Spears
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
Parmesan Cheese, Block or Shaved (to Taste)
Garlic Salt
Black Pepper
Red Pepper Flakes (Optional)

How to make Asparagus Crescent Rolls

Pre-heat the oven to 400 degrees.

Set a large pot of water on high heat to boil.

While waiting for the water to boil, wash the asparagus and break off the bottoms and toss. When the water starts to boil, toss the asparagus spears in for just 3 minutes.

While the asparagus is cooking, prepare a large bowl of ice water.

Once the asparagus has cooked for 3 minutes, place them in the ice bath for 1 minute. This keeps them looking green and stops the cooking process.

Cooking Asparagus

Remove the asparagus from the ice bath and pat dry with a paper towel.

Arrange the asparagus on a large dinner plate and pour a tablespoon of lemon juice over them. Using your fingers, move the asparagus around the plate so every spear is covered in lemon juice.  Set aside.

Unroll the Pillsbury Crescent Rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicon baking mat.

Place the parmesan cheese on the widest side of the crescent roll. You can use as much or as little as you like. Repeat until all 8 rolls have parmesan cheese.

Place the asparagus spears on top of the parmesan cheese. Make sure to center them so the same amount sticks out of the top of the roll as the bottom.

Sprinkle the crescent roll, and the whole asparagus spear, with garlic salt, black pepper and red pepper flakes to taste.

Tightly roll up the crescent roll so the cheese doesn’t spill out when melted.

Arrange on the baking sheet giving a 1” space between them since the crescents expand when cooked.

Cook for 10-12 minutes, until the crescent rolls are golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let sit for 2-3 minutes to cool down. Makes: 8 Rolls

You can enjoy the rolls immediately or refrigerate them overnight and re-heat in the oven (350 for 3-5 minutes) when you’re ready to serve.
