I think a lot of people overlook all the fun that can be found in Disney California Adventure Park. And with big new lands like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opening in Disneyland Park, it’s easy to see why. But, I want to share all the reasons why you should be sure to visit Disney California Adventure Park this summer. Don’t forget to check out my tips at the very bottom of those post that will help you save on Disney travel this summer! 

Why You Should Visit Disney California Adventure Park this Summer

Yes, I’m seriously recommending you go to Disneyland Resort right now. Don’t be scared at the thought of crowds; now is honestly such a great time to go! And here’s a list of the reasons Why You Should Visit Disney California Adventure Park this Summer. It’s all about the Limited Time Offerings and I’m going to share some of our favorites with you! 

There are a few attractions in Disney California Adventure Park that are only around for a few weeks. Don’t miss your chance to experience them, either for the first time ever or the first time in a long time!

Limited Time Offerings

Did you know that Soarin’ Over California has returned until August 31, 2019 due to its popularity? This aerial adventure takes you over a virtual California with the scent of citrus, and more, hanging in the air. You’ll even catch a glimpse of the Golden Gate Bridge from this attraction (not the real one, of course, but close enough!). This is a can’t-miss, immersive virtual experience.

Another limited-time offering in Disney California Adventure Park is “Tale of the Lion King.” This theatrical performance at the outdoor stage in Paradise Gardens Park will bring some of your favorite Lion King characters and songs to life. Marvel at the beautiful set designs, costumes and cast before they’re gone. I don’t have yet have an end date for this show, but I’ll update here when I do.

Why You Should Visit Disney California Adventure Park this Summer

There are a number of attractions at Disney California Adventure Park that are permanent features, which you can experience this summer with potentially low wait times. Now, I’m not saying you’ll walk on to a ride after just a five minute wait, but if you log into the Disneyland app right now you can see what I mean… rides that you would expect to have hours-long wait times might be more accessible than you think. Here’s a rundown of things to see at Disney California Adventure Park this summer:

Nancy Clancy from the hit book and TV series “Fancy Nancy” is now a fixture in Disney California Adventure Park. You can meet and greet this high-spirited character just outside the “Disney Junior Dance Party!” in Hollywood Land.

Pixar Pier just celebrated its one year anniversary, and it did so with a bang! Two new rides recently opened at Pixar Pier; Jessie’s Critter Carousel and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind.

The whimsical land also welcomes Bo Peep as a special guest this summer, along with other Disney Pixar characters such as Woody, Buzz Lightyear, members of The Incredibles, Inside Out emotions, Zootopia characters and more.

Cars Land in Disney California Adventure Park is popular for rides such a Radiator Springs Racers and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree. You can also grab a bite to eat at one of Sally’s Cozy Cones! It’s so fun to experience a real-life version of Radiator Springs, complete with Flo’s V8 Cafe, Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters and Fillmore’s Taste-In.

In Sunset Showcase Theater, you can catch a 3D showing of “Mickey’s PhilharMagic.” Starring Donald, Mickey and more classic Disney Characters, you’ll be along for the ride as magical mischief unfolds. Donald gets his feathered hands on Mickey’s wand and hat, and this fantasy adventure is the result. Located in Hollywood Land, this is definitely one reason why you should visit Disney California Adventure Park this summer!

For a souvenir experience that is completely free, visit Animation Academy in Disney California Adventure Park. Every 30 minutes a Disney artist guides guests of all ages through a step-by-step drawing lesson. You’ll learn how to draw classic Disney Characters and you’ll have a unique souvenir to take home as a result.

Did you know Disney California Adventure Park is home to a number of super heroes? In addition to the Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! ride, you can meet Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Captain America and Black Panther in Disney California Adventure. Whether you participate in the Guardians of the Galaxy dance off or get autographs, this is where the super hero action is!

When you’re ready for some air conditioning and a seat to rest your feet, head to “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion” in Disney California Adventure Park. This show is performed daily and offers a close up look at the world of Frozen. Your favorite characters and songs will be brought to life on stage in a stunning performance you won’t want to miss.

Another wonderful show to catch in Disney California Adventure Park is World of Color. This fan-favorite is back, and wowing audiences in the evenings at Pixar Pier. Marvel at 19,000 square feet of water that provides the backdrop for image and light projections, all of which is accompanied by Disney music.

Are you convinced yet? I sure am! There are lots of other attractions, dining experiences and more in Disney California Adventure Park, but hopefully I’ve shared enough reasons why you should go this summer.
