how to make gummy candy

We were most excited to check out the Rainbow Gummy Candy Lab. This one is exciting (according to my 12 year old) for two reasons. One, she loves to create things. Two, it’s CANDY!!

Rainbow Gummy Candy Lab

Unicorns, clouds, and rainbows … oh my! Make your own delicious, fun gummy shapes using a gelatin mixture: Pour it into the included mold and concoct a spectrum of flavors and colors to personalize your unicorn, cloud, and rainbow-shaped gummy creations. You can even add citric acid to make sour gummies. Bonus: Learn about the scientific properties of natural polymers as you cook up these delicious treats! This kit includes all the food ingredients needed for a rainbow-gummy good time. MSRP: $19.95 Age: 6 & UP

We love both the price point and the large variety of shapes, colors and flavors you can make. As a mom, I really appreciate the STEM angle, because anytime she’s playing and learning that same time – that’s a win in my book!

From start to finish, this was such a fun activity and my daughter was easily able to follow all directions to create gummy candies all on her own. In fact, she borrowed my camera to document the process and I was pretty impressed with how it all came together:
