Comparing Storyworth and Remento
As you can see, these are both lovely books with huge benefits to both the storytellers and the families who receive the gift of enjoying these books for years to come. I’ve long been a fan of both. Many of you have asked for my input on helping you do decide which is best for you. I definitely see value in both. I think the easiest way to share a comparison between the two is to layout the facts that I know, now that we have completed both books. In full transparency, I’ve recently worked closer with Remento because after reaching out many times with questions – I developed a great relationship with their team who has also provided some great offers for She Saved readers. So let’s start there.

What is the Different between Remento and Storyworth
Because I get asked this a lot, I’m breaking down the known differences. Keep in mind – there are MANY copycats to these two brands. I feel comfortable saying that NONE of them come even close to the quality of these two. With that being said, here are my thoughts on the difference between Remento and Storyworth:
As I mentioned above, Storyworth and Remento are priced comparably . Both result in the creation of a beautiful keepsake book. The main differences are actually found in the process of creating the books. My mom has created books with both programs so I’ve got a pretty great insight into how they each work. Keep in mind, my mom is a writer by nature. When she created her first book with Storyworth and we did our first Storyworth review, she very much enjoyed the process of “writing” her book.

Fast forward a few years later (over 7 to be exact) my mom was a bit less enthusiastic about “writing” her story. Therefore, she found the Remento process of “speaking her story” a bit refreshing. Keep in mind: she still gets to edit and copyright her finished words – and she can still “write” stories when she wants to, but I think she had a blast “speaking” her stories for her second book.
All that being said, if you have a writer in the family, then Storyworth is still a great option. The number one comment/question that I had on my original Storyworth posts was that people didn’t think their loved ones would sit down and actually write – so in that sense, I do think Remento solves a lot of problems. (especially for older participants.)
Obviously I love each of these options and have enjoyed the process with each. I do think that based on YOUR needs, you might find that one is a better fit for YOU. Keep in mind, my original Storyworth video was made years ago. Long before the newer Remento technology was available, so I’m going to drop both of my review videos here for you to enjoy:
How Each Storytelling Process Works:
Storyworth: Each week, storytellers respond to prompt questions by typing out answers. They can respond right in the prompt or log into the Storyworth website to add to their current book by logging into their account. Storytellers can customize their stories through editing and updating, and perfect their finished book to be exactly how they want. Basically, Storyworth storytellers receive an email in their inbox each week with a new writing prompt. (frequency can be adjusted)
Storyworth storytellers have access to a bank of questions, or can write their own. Family members with access can also participate in the question asking process.

Remento: For the Remento process, storytellers simply speak their answers to a new prompt each week—no writing or log-in required. Recordings can then be shared from any internet enabled device, including phones, tablets, and computers. Remento’s Speech-To-Story™ technology automatically transforms these recordings into either “cleaned transcripts” or more polished stories written in either the first or third person. These stories can be edited or updated or even re-written at any time. Storytellers can choose do tell their stories with or without video, but either way, their videos and voice recordings will be forever digitally preserved. My mom has also learned that she can bypass the AI technology totally and edit a written transcript of her voice to her own liking.
Remento storytellers receive their storytelling prompts via either email, SMS text message, or both. (frequency can be adjusted)

Remento storytellers will have access to a bank of questions developed by professional storytellers and memory scientists, as well as the ability to write your own questions. Remento storytellers can also share reflections about photos – which often result in far more vivid memory recall. With this capability, storytellers can offer memories behind childhood photos, share stories of yearbook pictures, and reflect on the meaning of photographed family heirlooms.

The finished Product: Remento vs Storyworth
In the end, with either book, you are going to have a lovely hard bound book to cherish for years to come. However, there is one HUGE major difference that really stood out to us: Remento stories include a QR code that provides actual access to the video and voice recording of the person who told the story. And not just ONE QR code, but each chapter features a QR code that brings your loved one back to life through their voice. As with Storyworth, these pages also include color-printed photographs, which can easily be uploaded before or after a new recording is created.
Comparing the book quality: Remento vs Storyworth
I have to say, both books are lovely finished products. I do think that the Remento book seems a bit fancier in terms of being more of a coffee table type book, and it’s definitely something I would want to set out for show. The Storyworth book reminds me of more of a literary book (especially in shape) but again, both are very nice.

Remento finished books are 8″ x 10″ hardbound books and feature a customizable hard cover, plus double-thick paper that is designed to last for generations. Again, the key feature with the Remento books is that QR code at the beginning of each chapter (story). This is what gives you digital access to see and hear the storyteller as they tell the story via a video recording.

Storyworth finished books are 6″ x 9″ hardbound books with a customizable hard cover that can be printed in either black and white or color, and are printed on standard weight paper.
Remento on Shark Tank
Several of you reached out to me when Charlie from Remento was on Shark Tank a few months ago … how cool was that!? He got a deal with Mark Cuban and also shared a bit of his story, which is quite inspiring.
Overall thoughts about Remento vs. Storyworth
Obviously I have a huge love for both of these products. My experience with each of them resulted in priceless books to be cherished for years to come. My relationship with the Remento team is much stronger due to the fact that very early on I found the customer support to be better. (if I’m honest .. I might have been a bit of a pain with all of the questions – lol – however, they always responded quickly and happily – which was amazing) I think that the Remento voice technology element solves the issue that many of you brought up with the Storyworth product. It seems to be so much easier for many people – especially seniors. And lastly, the QR code video and voice recording element available with the Remento book is truly a game changer to me.
All that being said, I have a hard time saying anything back about either product, they both offer priceless end results!
