Caprese Mushroom Appetizer Recipe

This simple Caprese Mushroom Appetizer recipe can be put together quickly and with only a few ingredients. If you happen to grow your own tomatoes and basil, you’ll love this recipe even more – so wonderful to be able to make these yummy appetizers with produce straight from your garden. 

This Mushroom Appetizer Recipe will be a favorite for dinners and parties, so good and SO easy!

You will love it! It’s one of my favorites because it can be thrown together quickly and it looks and tastes like gourmet food! BUT before we get into all of that, let’s try to answer this question: 

How do YOU pronounce Caprese? 

Because I’ll tell you what. It’s hard enough to spell Caprese, even spell check doesn’t agree with me on this one, lol! But pronouncing Caprese is just as challenging because there are a few variations. Caprese pronunciation is about as tricky as figuring out how to pronounce charcuterie – and even once you figure it out, it’s hard to remember how to say it! 

The best way I can explain to you on how to pronounce Caprese is: Kuh-Pray-Zay 

NOW that you know how to pronounce it, let’s get to the recipe!! 

Mushroom Appetizer Recipe

Ingredients for making stuffed mushroom appetizers

  • 12 Button Mushrooms, stems removed and cleaned
  • ¾ cup of Italian blend shredded cheese or mozzarella cheese
  • 13-18 grape tomatoes halved
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped basil (or to your liking)
  • 4 tablespoons of olive oil
  • Salt and pepper for taste

How to make Caprese Mushrooms

Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Scooped Out Mushrooms

Scoop the centers out of each of the mushrooms.

Caprese Tomatoes
In a small bowl add in tomatoes, basil, olive, a pinch of salt and pepper and toss together. Set aside for 10 minutes to marinate.
Cover a baking pan with aluminum foil and spread 3 tablespoons of oil over it.

Cheese Filled Mushrooms

Fill mushrooms with 1 tablespoon of cheese

Caprese Mushrooms
Top with 2-4 tomatoes  and the chopped basil over each.

Caprese Mushroom Appetizer
Add mushrooms to pan and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until cheese is golden.

Serve hot.

Also, can anyone tell me why my spell checker tells me Caprese is spelled wrong? How do YOU spell Caprese? I can’t figure out why spell check and I disagree on this one. Regardless, they are delicious, however you spell Caprese. I do know how to pronounce Caprese, so that’s good!

Caprese Mushroom Appetizer Recipe

These yummy stuffed mushrooms make an amazing appetizer and they are so easy to make. They look super fancy, but won't take much time and they look and taste like fancy Caprese Mushrooms that come right out of a fancy restaurant!

Ingredients
