The World Premiere of A WRINKLE IN TIME

The World Premiere of A WRINKLE IN TIME
Just a few days ago, I attended the World Premiere of A Wrinkle in Time in LA and I have to tell you, my head is still reeling from all of the excitement. I wanted to share with you my experience on the “red” (in this case, blue) carpet and what it was like to see all of the celebrities show up to walk the carpet, watch the movie and then head over to the after party to celebrate this film!
I have attended quite a few red carpet events and this one just had a bit of a different vibe to it. First of all, instead of a red carpet … the carpet was blue! It was full of energy and excitement, and lots (and lots!) of blue! I really felt like many of the celebrity attendees were there in support of the women that created this movie.
You could just feel the excitement in the air and I think that a huge part of the excitement was over the fact that Oprah Winfrey herself plays a very important role in this movie. So, I’ll start off by sharing with you a photo of Oprah stepping onto the carpet. She looked amazing as always.
I had the chance to interview her the day before (that interview is coming soon and I can’t wait to share it with you) but this whole experience confirmed for me that she’s everything that I had expected her to be and more. She’s the real deal.
As you can imagine, once Oprah shows up … the party starts!! The atmosphere was pure energy and excitement as one by one the film’s stars made their appearances. Storm Reid (“Meg Murry”) looked absolutely gorgeous and is seen in the photo below signing movie posters. I really enjoyed all 3 of the children that had roles in this film (interviews coming soon!) and found them all to be so polite and super friendly and engaging.
Below you will see a photo of Deric McCabe (“Charles Wallace Murry”) and I have to tell you, this kid is not only adorable, he is such a character! He has a pretty complex role in this film and he nailed it. He was so calm and collected in his carpet interviews and he always had that adorable grin.
Below you will see Levi Miller (“Calvin”) and if you don’t recognize him (he starred in Pan / 2015) I definitely recommend making note of his name. He reminds me of a young Leonardo Dicaprio and I was so impressed with the way that he handled himself. He attended the premiere with his mother and it just warmed my heart to see them enjoying the event together. (She’s gorgeous, by the way!)
Reese Witherspoon (“Mrs. Whatsit”) was wearing a stunning red gown. She’ll always be Sweet Home Alabama to me, but I loved her in this role (again, more on that in my interview post) and she’s just as gorgeous in person as you might imagine.
Before the premiere of the movie started, Director Ava DuVernay introduced the entire cast individually. My personal favorite thing about this film IS the cast, so this part was really exciting to me and I love the chemistry between this group of people. We had just interviewed them the day before, so their words and film through processes were still fresh in my mind, and it was so wonderful to watch it all come together.
I can’t WAIT to share my cast interviews with you … I get so excited thinking about all of the fabulous messages and information that this amazing group of talented individuals brought to the table for this movie.
The After Party
After the premiere, we all headed around the block (in the rain!) the after party. These parties are a chance for all of the people involved in the making of these films to celebrate the premiere and SO many celebrities showed up to celebrate with them! It’s always fun to take in the excitement of the party and they usually have fun movie themed booths and green screen activities.
For this event, they had some fun activities like movie inspired face painting, green screens, lots of food and drink and even a booth featuring Alex and Ani Wrinkle in Time movie inspired jewelry. Every party attendee was given their choice of one of the new rings from this line. (I believe the line will be released on March 2nd, and you will definitely want to check it out!) Aren’t they amazing?
The lighting in the room was fantastic, except for photos. There was a purple haze to the lighting and as you can see, it made things a bit purple hazy-ish. My photos from the evening are not the best, but they actually do give you a feel for what the atmosphere was like. You might even spot a few celebrities in my photos :
One of my favorite photos from the night was a photo with Director Ava DuVernay. This photo meant a lot to me because her interview (on the blog soon) was so moving and powerful and I really wanted to remember her words and my time with her. This woman is a WARRIOR!! (and that thing in the middle of my forehead is a party accessory, lol!)
Overall, it was such a wonderful and special night and I think that there is a reason that so many people turned out to celebrate this movie … it has such a positive message and for those that know the book, it’s a message to be celebrated!
