Behind the Scenes at ABC: On the set of Dr. Ken with Dr. Ken!
Have you watched Dr. Ken yet? This fun new family sitcom aires tonight at 8:30-9:00 p.m. EST on the ABC Television Network.
I recently had the change to go behind the scenes with the cast of this series and it was so much fun. The cast of this show was so welcoming and friendly and I really enjoyed the time that we had on set with them learning more about what makes this show work.
About Dr. Ken: Doctor turned actor/comedian Ken Jeong plays Dr. Ken, a brilliant physician with no bedside manner. He is always trying to be a good doctor, as well as a good husband and dad to his two kids. Luckily, his therapist wife Allison is just the right partner to keep things sane.
Cast members include: “Dr. Ken” stars Ken Jeong as Dr. Ken, Suzy Nakamura as Allison, Tisha Campbell Martin as Damona, Jonathan Slavin as Clark, Albert Tsai as Dave, Krista Marie Yu as Molly, Dana Lee as D.K. and Dave Foley as Pat.
Around the Set
One thing that I love about sets is that they actually cram a LOT into small areas. Within just one warehouse type building on the ABC lot, they have all of these wonderfully mocked up sets including Dr. Ken’s family home, the clinic and office area and if you look behind the kitchen windows you will even see a small back yard area. Here’s a peek around the sets:
The cast of Dr. Ken is such a fun group of people! You might recognize several of them from different shows. I really enjoyed meeting them, especially Tisha Campbell Martin who was so friendly and engaging, very down to earth. I have watched her on television for years and it was really neat to finally meet her in person. Truthfully though, the entire cast was so welcoming and they have a great chemistry between them.
Here’s a fun clip from the show, in which Dr. Ken and his son are hanging out at a Jazz performance, and well.. let’s just say, Dr. Ken isn’t doing so well. The funny thing is, I can relate to this one… Jazz is a tough one for me too, and it’s really hard to pretend when it’s not, lol. Poor Dr. Ken.
