The Sandals Foundation: The Gift of Education #BeachesMoms
I’ve shared with you several times my partnership with Beaches Resorts as I’ve attended Social Media on the Sand every year for a total of four visits. One of my favorite things about Beaches Resorts in Turks and Caicos is their strong commitment to doing good work in their local community and this year, the need was stronger than ever. Due to the hurricanes last year, there is so much rebuilding still to be done in the Caribbean.
We had the honor of spending the day at the Ianthe Pratt Primary School where we helped to clean up and paint murals for the school children. I love the things that we can up with and had so much fun!
The children were playing off in the distance, and I have to admit, this moment kind of took my breath away. They were playing and laughing and exuding so much joy. They seemed to be totally unaware of the conditions around them and it stopped me in my tracks. We clearly all take for granted the things we have and enjoy every day. These kids were just happy to be at school, running and playing with friends. They have so little, and yet they are so full of joy.
I love the positive messaging that was painting all over the school, hopefully these messages of hope and love will inspire these beautiful children!
In celebration and support of Giving Tuesday, I would love to invite you to join me in supporting the Sandals Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Sandals and Beaches Resorts. In partnership with School Specialty Supplies, we gathered while at the Social Media on the Sand conference to do some really new worth in helping to finish the work at the new Ianthe Pratt Primary School. I was able to witness firsthand the school and how hard it was hit by the hurricanes last year. It suffered substantial damage and the work that we did while there, and continue to do, will help nearly 600 students, ages 5-11 years who are in need of safe, clean and inspiring spaces to learn, grow and flourish!
Just like years past, we partnered with School Specialty to bring the kids backpacks full of school supplies. Thank you School Specialty for your amazing support and commitment to this awesome event!

The Sandals Foundation is currently fundraising to earn money which will go directly to purchasing needed supplies and materials to complete the school’s playground, theater area and main recess area. Sandals Foundation…doing great things in the Caribbean
During our stay at the Sandals BEACHES resort, we were so moved by all that we learned about the foundation. I spoke to many employees at the resort whose lives and had been personally touched by the outreach and community work that the Sandals Foundation provides and many of them shared with me the amazing things that they foundation gives to the children of the island by bettering their lives through education, health care and more.
The VERY best part of the day was after we finished our work at the school, some of the school children came out and sang to us to show us their appreciation.
It was beautiful and I loved seeing the joy that all of the colorful murals brought to them, and they joy that their beautiful singing and dancing brought to us.
