I love all of the new releases of old favorites that Disney is rolling out, and the Little Mermaid movies have been a real treat for us! Somehow, my daughter hadn’t even seen the Little Mermaid (near impossible to miss a Disney movie in our house) but I was almost glad because watching it with her when we reviewed the Diamond Edition last month was truly magical!
About: Disney’s amazing undersea classic lives on in an all-new story bursting with the same captivating musical style, unforgettably colorful characters, and brilliant animation that made the original film an Academy Award(R)-winning favorite. After rejoicing over the birth of their daughter Melody, Ariel and Eric must face a new threat from Ursula’s revengeful sibling Morgana — a threat that forces them to hide Melody’s true mermaid heritage. Melody, a young princess curious about her roots, ultimately ventures into the sea against her parents’ wishes. There, she meets new friends, and in her dream to be a mermaid becomes a pawn in Morgana’s plot to gain control of the Seven Seas. Ariel must reunite with her childhood friends Sebastian, Flounder, and Scuttle to rescue her daughter and restore harmony to her family. An all-star cast returns, including Jodi Benson (Ariel) and Samuel E. Wright (Sebastian), for a remarkable adventure teeming with surprises and four phenomenal new songs.
Where to purchase? You can pre-order The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning and The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea DVD on Amazon right now for $24.99!
Our thoughts? This DVD collection set is wonderful! A must have if you have an Ariel fan! Not only does this feature Ariel’s Beginning (awesome!) but it also includes The Little Mermaid II, which features Ariels daughter, Melody! This story has a very fun twist as Melody is a lot like her mother and has her own dreams and desires much like her mother did. It’s charming and beautifully done, and it is an ocean adventure that should not be missed! Great holiday gift idea and you get a lot of bang for your buck with this one, as it also has quite a few bonus features to enjoy!
