Easy Chocolate Pecan Pie Recipe
Perfect for fall and the upcoming holiday season, this Easy Chocolate Pecan Pie recipe will become one of your new favorites as it’s certainly one of ours!
Easy Chocolate Pecan Pie recipe
I’ve really struggled to find a good southern pecan pie recipe in the past but this one is such an easy recipe – so simple and comes out beautifully. It is quite like a traditional pecan pie but has that chocolate kick and is truly the best chocolate pecan pie we’ve tried. Top it with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream and it’s better than any classic pecan pie recipe!
The other secret to this homemade pecan pie recipe is that I cheat a bit by using a pastry pie shell. Let me tell you what, I know my strengths and buying pastry shells is one of them *grin*. You could of course make a homemade pie crust, but not having to makes this such an easy holiday dessert. As if you aren’t already busy enough with Thanksgiving dinner, having this easy to make perfect pecan pie will make things that much easier.
I shared with you a few weeks ago my recipes for an Creamy Pumpkin Pie (also made with a pastry shell) and these two pies would be a fantastic addition to your Thanksgiving meal and would also make lovely holiday desserts to bring to gatherings.
Also, I might add that while the addition of chocolate here is optional, this chocolate version is so fantastic and a great way to take your pecan pie game to the next level.
Ingredients for making Southern Chocolate Pecan Pie
- 3 eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 cup light corn syrup or dark corn syrup (Karo Syrup)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips (milk chocolate chips work as well)
- 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
- 1 (9 inch) unbaked pastry shell
How to make Chocolate Pecan Pie
- In a large bowl, combine eggs, corn syrup, sugar, chips, butter and vanilla until well blended.
- Stir in pecans.
- Pour into pastry shell.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for a bake time of about 50 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean.
Recipe notes:
My hubby loves to drizzle maple syrup on his slice of pie
Just like with regular pecan pie, you’ll want to cover this with aluminum foil, plastic wrap or store in an airtight container.

Been in the oven now for approximately 75 minutes. I still have chocolate pecan soup. Any suggestions? My husband and I went over the recipes many times together and we followed instructions perfectly.
There is no sugar listed in the ingredients so what do we do?
This chocolate pecan pie looks absolutely delicious! I love how easy you made it sound. Can’t wait to try it for our family gathering this weekend! Thank you for sharing!
