This year is so different (understatement?) and I’m trying to find comfort and joy in the simple moments. Missing time with friends and loved ones (and travel, oh how I miss!) but also thankful for more time with these kids who grew in the blink of an eye. (Seriously!?!)
These smiles are giving me life right now 💕

Perhaps we’ll remember these added moments as one of the gifts that we take from 2020? 🎁

Oh my goodness, I had so much fun with this!

I'm such a @MarthaStewart wannabe, and thanks to her new book: Martha Stewart’s Cake Perfection: 100+ Recipes for the Sweet Classic, From Simple to Stunning, I think I'm ready for one of those fancy baking reality shows!

My favorite thing about this @clarksonpotter book is that it simplifies things and makes you realize that these delicious and gorgeous recipes aren't as difficult as they seem - in fact, Martha makes them totally doable!

I baked a cake and decorated it too? Yea... like a BOSS! The icing on the cake (see what I did there?) was Martha Stewart’s Cake Perfection Decorating Set from @iGourmet which I used to add the finishing touches like edible gold flakes, green pistachios and edible dried rose petals. (who am I!??) The contents of the decorating set are all hand-picked by @MarthaStewart48 and her team of food editors so it's got everything you need and more.

Go Mustangs!!

As our favorite varsity team (and player!) head into the state high school playoffs tonight we’ll be cheering them on from home because 2020 doesn’t quit with the things it’s taken away (no fans) but that’s ok, these kids don’t quit either!

They’ve worked so hard and I’m thankful for the awesome coaches and parents that have worked hard to keep these kids safe and playing the game they love!

So while #FridayNightLights looks a little different these days, we’ll take it and look forward to getting back to those stadium seats!

Hangin' in there?

I'm kind of out of words (aren't we all?) for how different things are right now, but that doesn't change that fact that fall is still one of my favorite times of the year and there is still plenty of happiness to be found, even if you have to look for it a little bit.

I'm finding happiness in the little moments, people and conversations that bring me joy.

RIP my beautiful Big Mack 💕

Almost 4 years ago, I read a post on FB about a Mammoth Mule from Oklahoma that was sold at auction and headed to a kill lot in Mexico. He didn't have a name, just tag #841. To this day I can't really tell you how it all came together but it did, and thanks to some awesome people, my big sweet handsome gentle giant made his way to Idaho.

I wish I knew more about his life before he came here (or maybe I don't) but I assume at one point he was loved because he had the biggest heart and a wicked sense of humor. But to get to that, you had to break through a really tough exterior, which is why I also have to assume that there were times when people had really let him down. Obviously.

He had a true servant's heart. In fact, aside from his love of sweet feed, he rarely broke form and spent most of his time watching for me and guarding our property. He was always aware of where I was and what I was doing. He disliked intruders: stray dogs, deer, coyotes and he especially disliked sheep.

And he was stubborn. So stubborn in fact that once he got here, he decided that he'd never leave. He would go anywhere on our property, but we couldn't actually get him to cross the property line. Not once.

The reality is, he was a pretty banged up old mule who was tough as nails and had the scars to prove it. But to me, he was beautiful. I used to always tell him that I'm certain he had a bit of the great Secretariat somewhere in his bloodlines. We'd both laugh even though I was only kind of kidding.

Definitely not the best financial decision that I ever made, and 100% the craziest, but absolutely one of the most rewarding things I've ever done.

A huge thank you to my hubby who was so kind helping Mack move on from this world. I'll always be to thankful that I was able to be there telling him how much I loved him right up to the end.

Love you my big handsome Bray-be and thank you for bringing me so much joy. May the heavens be full of sweet feed, green pastures and none of those pesky sheep 💕
