Embassy Suites San Diego Bay Downtown Hotel is Perfect for the 4th of July!

San Diego is one of my favorite get away destinations.

It’s such an easy city to visit and I love any excuse to enjoy that California sunshine!  We recently enjoyed a hosted stay at the Embassy Suites San Diego Downtown Hotel and I have to say, it is in the perfect location to visit all of San Diego’s hot spots!

Embassy Suites San Diego Bay Downtown Hotel

This hotel property is situated perfectly by the beautiful San Diego Bay within walking distance of the downtown area and historic Gaslamp Quarter area.

It’s also literally a minutes’ walk from Seaport Village. The Village is the ideal location for shopping, dining and just enjoying a nice stroll along the bay. Also within walking distance is the San Diego Convention Center and the new outdoor amphitheater.

First things first, let’s talk about the hotel itself. A quick ride from the San Diego International Airport, the Embassy Suites San Diego Downtown hotel property is perfect if you are looking for a downtown San Diego hotel as it sits close to the heart of downtown San Diego.

Every Room is a Suite at Embassy Suites San Diego Downtown

I’ve said it many time about the Embassy Suites properties, but we love them because EVERY room is a suite.

That means a living room area with a fold out sofa bed, a dining table seating area (great for room service or take out) and a nice kitchenette. Great for families or business travelers. These rooms have an apartment style feel to them and they boast quite a bit of square feet for a hotel room.

You can request a king bed or a two queen bed room. We love the way you can shut off the master area for a private bedroom if needed. The master bedroom has premium bedding and a comfy pillowtop bed.

The separate bedroom makes these a great choice for families with teenagers too – as they also include two television sets. The kids can enjoy their own movie in the front living area while the adults can watch something else.

These modern suites really have everything you need including microwave, refrigerator, a coffee maker / tea maker and complimentary toiletries. If you can, I highly request getting a room with a balcony.

The views are amazing and hotel guests can enjoy looking out over the downtown and bay area. It is amazing at night.

Hotel guest can also enjoy an amazing FREE breakfast buffet. The buffet is complete with a custom omelette bar, fruit and so much more.

Embassy Suites are known for their amazing breakfast offerings and this property did not disappoint. Also awesome is their complimentary evening reception. Each guest can enjoy two free cocktails or non-alcoholic beverages along with hors d’oeuvres and snacks each night in the dining area.

You can’t beat complimentary drinks for happy hour!

And since this is a Hilton property, they also offer the usual perks that Hilton hotels offer Hilton Honors members.

Other things worth mentioning include the business center with complimentary computers, the fitness center and heated indoor swimming pool area. We felt this location also had a super friendly staff. We enjoyed the on property gift shop that was a quick and easy way to grab refreshments during our stay.

Night View from the balcony of the Embassy Suites San Diego Bay Downtown Hotel

But really, what we need to talk about is the VIEW! This area is beautiful in all directions and it was so fun to be able to sit on the balcony and watch the San Diego happenings. The views of the bay where incredible and we loved watching the ships go by.

Embassy Suites San Diego Downtown for the 4th of July

The San Diego Bay area is known for the the Big Bay BOOM fireworks show -and actually, from the Embassy Suites San Diego Downtown location you can see shows from Coronado Island and all directions – truly a fantastic place to spend the 4th of July.

If you want a peek at  how fabulous it is, watch my video of the Big Bay Boom fireworks show here:

If you are looking for a great destination to spend the Fourth of July, I can’t recommend San Diego enough – it’s been our go-to for years.

list of things to do in San Diego

Fun Things to Do in San Diego within Close Distance of Embassy Suites San Diego Downtown

As I mentioned above it is also within walking distance is Seaport Village which includes many shops and restaurants and some nice walking and views along the bay. Guests can also walk to the San Diego Symphony Bayside Performance Park also known as The Rady Shell which is a wonderful outdoor concert and movie venue.

The Embassy Suites San Diego Bay Downtown is also less than a mile from San Diego Convention Center, Petco Park, and the USS Midway Museum. It’s a quick Uber or Lyft ride to so many fun places: San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, Balboa Park, Mission Bay, Old Town, Coronado Island, The University of San Diego and literally so much more!

We went to every location that I mentioned and I don’t think we had a Lyft or Uber ride that was over $20 before tip… it’s so close to just about everything. Here are a few moments from our favorite San Diego hotspots:

South Mission Beach, Belmont Park and Draft South Mission

A quick Lyft ride from Embassy Suites San Diego Downtown is South Mission Beach. This beach is a wonderful place to hang out, enjoy Belmont Park (a small amusement park) and just walk along the boardwalk.

If you do go, don’t miss our on the brussels sprouts at Draft South Mission which is a restaurant located right on the beach.

San Diego Zoo

We love the San Diego Zoo. So much to see and do and a great way to spend the day together as a family.

We usually take one day to take in the Zoo and another day for Sea World. They are both easy to do in one day and both are great for all ages.

SeaWorld on the 4th of July

We absolutely love SeaWorld on the 4th of July! As I’m mentioned, San Diego is such a wonderful destination for this summer holiday, but SeaWorld is the best! As a SeaWorld Let’s See Explorers Ambassador, we enjoyed a hosted day at the park:

The perfect place to hang out with kids of all ages, there is so much to see and do.

We love the rides and of course, the newest addition to the park is the NEW Emperor Dive Coaster! This ride is now open and The Emperor is the tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster in all of California. Riders enjoy a 90 degree plunge and soar up to 60 miles per hour through exhilarating loops on this exciting Emperor penguin-inspired thrill ride.

Another of our favorite things about visiting SeaWorld is that you can go at a slower pace and just enjoy all of the animals and shows. While the park might get busy, it never seems too packed – and there is always something entertaining to do.

We love to visit The San Diego Zoo and Sea World on the 4th of July. Such a fun and festive place and you enjoy all of the extra celebrations that take place.
