Easy Christmas Tree Cupcakes

This easy Christmas tree cupcake recipe is one of my very favorites. Such an easy holiday dessert and SO pretty. 

And don’t tell anyone, but if you are short on time, grab some ready made cupcakes at your local bakery and just do the frosting and trees yourself!

Or, make the decorating part a family activity. A fun Christmas parties or holiday gatherings and everyone will love decorating their own frosting Christmas tree!

Ingredients for Making Christmas Tree Cupcakes

Cake mix (calls for oil, water and eggs)
3 Cans vanilla frosting
Green gel food coloring
Nonpareil sprinkles
Candy cane sprinkle
Star sprinkles
Other Christmas candy sprinkle options

*here’s a savings tip for some of these sprinkles: shop the clearance sales at the end of the holiday season, especially at retailers like Walmart where you can often grab some of these with the Christmas clearance for as much at 90% off. Since they are candy products, they’ll last until the next Christmas and save you a lot of money! 

You will also need:
Cupcake pan
Cupcake liners
Mixer
Scoop
Spatula
Mixing bowl
Decorating bag
Large star tip

How to make Christmas Tree Cupcakes with Trees Made out of Frosting

1. Preheat your oven and line your baking pan with cupcake liners.
2. Mix the cake mix with eggs, oil and water or how directed on the package.
3. Place liners in pan, fill 3/4 full with batter.
4. Bake for 15 minutes and let cool.

Making Christmas Cupcakes

5. Mix 3 cans of vanilla frosting with 3 drops green gel food coloring, mix well and place in the fridge for 30 minutes.
6. Cut 1” off the end of the decorating bag and place a star tip in the bottom.
7. Fill the bag with green frosting, twist the top of the bag closed, place the tip in the center of the cupcakes, squeeze the bag and draw in a circular pattern in, out and back in to make a tree top.

8. Tip with sprinkles, candy cakes and a star on the top.

These darling Christmas Tree cupcakes are easy to make and so fun! Kids will love helping you to decorate them with sprinkles and even top them with a candy star on the top. Purchase pre-made cupcakes or make your own, the fun part is making trees out of frosting and then letting everyone decorate their own Christmas tree made out of frosting! We think this will be one of your favorite Christmas tree recipes!
