How to Make a Pineapple Smoothie Bowl

I love healthy food options that look fancy and taste delicious and this is definitely one of them! Best of all, this Pineapple Smoothie Bowl is super easy to make, and affordable too with just a few ingredients.

I usually try to find smaller pineapples for these smoothie bowls if I am serving several people, so that they can each have their own half.

Obviously, you can get creative here and top your smoothie bowl with anything you like, these are some of our favorites. Other favorite smoothie bowl toppings include: fresh fruit and fresh berries like fresh strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. You can also add favorite toppings like nuts, sunflower seeds, granola, chocolate chips (mini), honey, chia seeds, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, homemade granola (yum!) or you can even add a sprinkle of chia seeds – the possibilities are endless!

If you are looking to get extra protein into your smoothie you can add peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter or scoop of protein powder when you blend your bowls and just remember, the more soft ingredients that you add, you’ll have a creamier consistency. Obviously the less liquid that you add, the thicker smoothie is what you’ll end up with. A thick smoothie bowl is my favorite because it doesn’t melt as fast and it looks prettier.

Delicious toppings I are what complete the perfect smoothie bowl. I love to top my smoothie bowls with banana slices, mini chocolate chips or cacao nibs and then drizzle them with raw honey or maple syrup. You can go for healthy toppings or change things up if you are going for really healthy smoothie recipes.

The key to making a fantastic smoothie bowl is making it the way YOU want it.

Filling it up with the fruits and flavors that you like best. Play with a different variety of fruits (fresh mango, dragon fruit, oranges – so many different ways to create your smoothie base and then build from there!

We love changing things up to keep our fruit bowls fun and exciting and we’ve often put out a smoothie buffet bar to let each family member customize their own smoothies bowls.

I think my favorite thing about these types of healthy breakfast options is that they are not only fun and fancy to look at, they are easy and quick to put together.

You’ll find that most of my breakfast recipes fall into the “easy to make” category because mornings are usually when things are the most chaotic around here. I love making our own easy recipes right from home, festive ones like this fun pineapple smoothie bowl. If you are looking for a drink to make along with this fun smoothie idea, you could serve my homemade Hawiian punch, it’s so pretty and also easy to make! Garnish it with pineapple and it will go perfectly with this tropical theme!

Pineapple Bowl with Fruit

How to make a Pineapple Smoothie Bowl

  1. Hollow out a pineapple with a spoon
  2. Place the scooped out into a blender with the strawberries, milk and banana
  3. Blend in a high-speed blender until smooth (a vitamix blender works great!)
  4. Gently scoop the smoothie into the hollowed out pineapple and garnish with coconut, banana and pineapple or other ideas as mentioned above!

For best results, you’ll want to blend your smoothie mixture right before you plan on serving your beautiful smoothie bowls, or else your’ll run the risk of them being too runny and they can be really hard to eat once they start to settle and melt so it’s a good idea to plan out when you’ll be making this smoothie bowl recipe.

Wondering how to make a thick smoothie bowl? Here’s a tip: use frozen fruit like frozen berries or bananas to add to the thickness and it will also help your smoothie bowl to stay colder longer and prevent your smoothie bowl from getting runny.

Smoothie bowls make for a good breakfast option and are a little more exciting than traditional smoothie recipes. They aren’t just for breakfast though, they also make a wonderful afternoon snack or a great treat for BBQs or pool parties! Such a great way to serve healthy recipes that will be a hit with your guests but are also affordable and delicious!

So to answer your question: What is a smoothie bowl? It’s whatever you want it to be … blended fruit in a bowl, you get to create just how amazing it turns out!
