Organizing Techniques from Martha Stewart

Here are just a few of the things (just a tiny sampling) that this book tackles:

  • Room-by-room strategies to make spaces more hardworking and rewarding (i.e. how to sort office paperwork, when to purge the garage or attic, and ways to store perishables in the fridge or freezer for maximum shelf life.)

Martha Stewart Declutter

  • Seasonal advice like when to swap out bedding and clothing and how to put away holiday decorations. For example, in January, Stewart sets days to establish healthy habits, review your financial plan for the year, clean your pantry, and make and freeze soups to get you through the cold winter months.

I’m about 1/2 way through Martha’s new book and I have to say, I am so excited about the motivation that it’s given me to tackle some of my biggest organizational hurdles and it lays everything out so simply.

If you are like me, and tend to be overwhelmed by organizing, I think you’ll appreciate the way this book breaks down organizational tasks. The first thing I attempted was decluttering my desk and I loved how she compares your desk space to a parking space and divides the space into categories. I had a few lightbulb moments as I was following the instructions for getting my desk area clean and functional.

Here’s the thing – Martha Stewart brings it ALL: how to organize your kitchen cabinets, how to organize your refrigerator, how to organize your drawers … how to organize your kitchen. She literally walks you through all of the organizational techniques and tricks to bring your home up to Martha Stewart organizing standards!
