Martha Stewart’s Organizing: The Manual for Bringing Order to Your Life, Home & Routines
It’s that time of year and I’m all about the organizing! Martha Stewart to the rescue with her newest book.
It’s called Martha Stewart’s Organizing: The Manual for Bringing Order to Your Life, Home & Routines and I’m here to tell you, this book has it ALL!
From cover to cover, it’s packed with ways to simply tackle those projects on your list and I feel like each page offers a new project, which makes it so much less overwhelming if you just take this book bit by bit.
Organizing Techniques from Martha Stewart
Here are just a few of the things (just a tiny sampling) that this book tackles:
- Room-by-room strategies to make spaces more hardworking and rewarding (i.e. how to sort office paperwork, when to purge the garage or attic, and ways to store perishables in the fridge or freezer for maximum shelf life.)
- Seasonal advice like when to swap out bedding and clothing and how to put away holiday decorations. For example, in January, Stewart sets days to establish healthy habits, review your financial plan for the year, clean your pantry, and make and freeze soups to get you through the cold winter months.
- Day-by-day or week-by-week plans for projects such as de-cluttering, house cleaning, creating a filing system, overhauling the closet, and more.
Martha’s indispensable expertise walks you through goal-setting, principles of organizing, useful supplies, and creating systems for ongoing success. A look into Martha’s own personal calendars offers a template for scheduling essential tasks.

If you are looking for more organization inspiration this year, check out my FREE 30 Day Decluttering Challenge printable – I think Martha Stewart would approve!! I’m definitely no expert in this area, but I know where to find good help and inspiration.
I’m about 1/2 way through Martha’s new book and I have to say, I am so excited about the motivation that it’s given me to tackle some of my biggest organizational hurdles and it lays everything out so simply.
If you are like me, and tend to be overwhelmed by organizing, I think you’ll appreciate the way this book breaks down organizational tasks. The first thing I attempted was decluttering my desk and I loved how she compares your desk space to a parking space and divides the space into categories. I had a few lightbulb moments as I was following the instructions for getting my desk area clean and functional.
I’m excited to continue to take these tips and see what other ways I can be inspired to bring order to my life. I’m all in!
