How to Tie Dye Easter Eggs

We’ve tried so many different ways to dye Easter eggs and I find that what I love most about any egg dyeing process is the time that we spend together. I’m excited to share with you our process of how to tie dye Easter Eggs the easy way, because honestly, it doesn’t have to be complicated! Most importantly, it should be easy and fun!

This fun Easter Egg Tie Dye technique is definitely EASY and FUN! With only a few supplies needed, you can put this activity together in just a few minutes! It’s also a great Easter activity for large groups and a great way to decorate eggs as part of your event festivities.

Hard boiled eggs
Paper towel
Gel food coloring
Cup of water
Newspaper
Plastic gloves if you don’t want your hands temporarily stained

1. Lay out newspaper onto your table to avoid staining the table.
2. Wrap each egg in a piece of paper towel and twist the top to hold the paper towel in place tightly.

3. Dip the paper towel egg in water.
4. Drip the food coloring onto a piece of rolled up paper towel and dab the paper towel covered eggs one color at a time, making sure you cover most of the egg in.

5. Carefully unwrap the egg and place the egg onto a plate or egg holder to dry.

Celebrate the Little Things

Ever since my kids were little, I’ve enjoyed stretching out the holiday seasons by decorating the house, selection holiday themed story books and creating holiday themed meals and celebrations. As my kids get older, I still do these things, I just modify them to fit their age and interest. For example, now that my kids are older, we have night time glow in the dark Easter egg hunts and guess what the eggs are filled with? Dollar bills, coins and candy. My kids also enjoy putting on Easter egg hunts for the younger kids in our extended family and it’s a great excuse to get together and continue the fun festivities of these holidays.

After all, it’s really about being together and these holiday celebrations make my mama heart so happy. Finding ways and excuses to gather doesn’t have to be expensive or time consuming.

Sometimes it is as simple as a fun Easter themed coloring book, puzzle or even a visit to the library to check out Easter themed books. In the weeks leading up to holidays, I always loved reading relevant books at bedtime.

It builds the excitement and anticipation for them. Actually, it builds it for me too! Life is short, celebrate the little things.
