I don’t even know how my heart feels about this!? I love it and it’s so bittersweet at the same time. I mean … I remember watching Toy Story before I even had kids. I remember watching it 100 times more after I had kids, and I’ve truly loved every single one of them, but the truth is, even during the last one, my kids were still totally still in love with their toys.
I could relate to outgrowing my own toys but I hadn’t yet watched my children actually stop playing with their favorite toys. With each year that passes, more and more toys find their way to the donation pile and my mama heart struggles with the goodbyes, the changing of time and the letting go. And every time I go into my son’s room I glance up into his closet to see his beloved Buzz and Woody staring back at me and I think to myself, “Oh thank goodness, they are still here.”
The reality is that the reason that these movies resonate so strongly with all of us is that we’ve all been there. We’ve been on the edge of childhood and torn between our childhood loves and the world that awaits us beyond. As a mother, it’s an entirely different and yet very familiar experience.
It’s all about loving hard and letting go.
Oh my goodness, get ready to get your heart ripped out people. . . you know that’s what we are in for, right!!!?
Well, the good news is that in true Pixar fashion, not only will this movie be like a knife in the heart, but it will also be a joyous journey of Pixar adventure. So. There’s that. And really, that’s why we love this all so much!
NEW TOY? – Everyone’s favorite pull-string cowboy sheriff Woody, along with his best friends Buzz Lightyear and Jessie, are happy taking care of their kid, Bonnie, until a new toy called “Forky” arrives in her room. According to Forky, a spork-turned-craft-project, he’s not a toy at all—and he’d rather skip this big adventure completely, if only they’d let him. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack return as the voices of Woody, Buzz and Jessie, and comedian Tony Hale lends his voice to Forky. Directed by Josh Cooley (“Riley’s First Date?”) and produced by Jonas Rivera (“Inside Out,” “Up”) and Mark Nielsen (associate producer “Inside Out”), “Toy Story 4” ventures to U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019.
And who knows… maybe this one won’t be a tear jerker like the others? Or is that just too impossible?
Judging from the look of the new movie poster, I have a feeling that this Toy Story movie is going to give us ALL the feels!
Who else can’t wait for this movie? I’ve got it on my calendar and can’t wait!
