Easy Paper Quilling Craft: Quilled Flower Frame
We are all about the crafts around here right now! Since my daughter is 10 years old, I’m always looking for great crafts for kids and homemade gift ideas that are easy to make because she loves nothing more than a good crafting project. Her latest obsession is quilling paper projects, and I have to admit that I didn’t even know this was a thing! It’s perfect for kids of all ages because for this Easy Paper Quilling Craft you need very few supplies and it entertains them for hours. (mom win!) This particular quilling craft is for a quilled flower frame that would be perfect for gift giving!
List of Supplies
- Quilling paper strips
- Craft Glue
- Slotted quilling tool
- Photo Mat or Frame (adjust glue depending on the material you are glueing to)
For the quilling we’ll basically need 2 shapes; basic eye pattern and loose coil.
Use different colored paper strips to create the eye shape. Use green colored strips to create sever eyes shapes for the leaves and use yellow colored strips t create the loose coils.
Once you’re done preparing the shapes you can start decorating the frame. As mentioned above, your frame can either be a standard photo mat or you can even glue these paper flowers to photo mat INSIDE a frame by just removing the glass. OR, if you don’t have a mat or frame, you could always glue these to paper and make a very nice card!
Making Your Quilled Flower Frame
Start from a side or corner. I used 8 eye shapes for each flower pattern; you can use as many as you want. Simply glue the shapes on the frame using craft glue.
After creating the flower pattern glue a yellow loose coil on the center of the flower pattern.
Continue to add the quilled shapes on the frame until the entire frame is covered. Create the flower patterns first and then go for the leaves.
You may also create some tight coils to fill up any gaps between the quilled patterns.
Allow the glue to dry and the frame will be ready.
Paper Quilling is actually a fascinating form of art and there are so many fun things you can do with it once you start getting good at it! I actually think Paper Quilling sets would make wonderful gifts!
