Homemade Blueberry Nice Cream Recipe
Homemade Nice Cream Recipe
Homemade Nice Cream, anyone??
Need a super easy recipe to make for those moments when you need nutrition on the run?
Looking for an alternative to ice cream? How about homemade nice cream!?
This Easy Homemade Blueberry Nice Cream Recipe is a great go-to and it’s SO easy, the only catch is that you need to remember to have your bananas and blueberries frozen solid for the best results. It can literally be made in a minute, which makes it very handy for those crazy mornings when a minute is about all you have. Tell me I’m not the only one who has those mornings 🙂
As an added bonus, if you need to avoid dairy, this is a dairy free recipe that still tastes yummy and delicious and may not upset your tummy (or system) like ice cream will. Thus, the name “nice cream”.
I really like recipes like this for an afternoon snack and I’ve included some notes below on how I add different things to this recipe depending on what I’m needing nutritionally that day.
Ingredients for ONE serving of homemade Nice Cream
-
- 1 Completely Frozen Banana (large)
- ½ Cup Frozen Blueberries
- 1 Tablespoon Vanilla
Note: You can also add a bit of almond or soy milk (or any milk, really) to this if you want to cream it up a bit however, this recipe can be totally dairy free … just make sure that your bananas and your blueberries are totally frozen to get the creamy effect)
This recipe is one that I like to make single serving for myself, but obviously if you are making for a family you can multiply the ingredients based on how many servings that you need.
Directions for making homemade Nice Cream
- Add all ingredients to a food processor.
- Blend until no large chunks of fruit appear.
- Eat immediately or place in freezer in a covered dish to eat later.
Tips for making homemade Nice Cream
Note: You can freeze a whole banana (shown above) with the peel on, or you can dice up a banana and put it in ziplock bags to use when needed.
I tend to put the entire banana in the fridge the night before, but it is sometimes a little tricky getting the peel off. If you are going to be making a lot of these, I recommend removing the peel and cutting your bananas in half and then freezing that way.
I also like to add a tablespoon (or two!) of peanut butter for some added protein! I also like to sprinkle it with a handful of granola from time to time, and chocolate chips are also a nice topping!
