Operation Christmas Child: How to Pack a Shoebox

This coming week is the drop off week for Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes, so I thought that I would share with you how this awesome program works.
You might already be familiar with Operation Christmas Child. Maybe you are wondering how to find out more about Operation Chrsitmas Child or maybe you are looking for ideas about what types of items to put in an Operation Christmas Child box? Here are some ideas and details to help you get started!

What is Operation Christmas Child?

It’s a fantastic program that brings shoeboxes full of gifts, and blessed with prayer, to underpriveldged children around the world. You can provide your own shoeboxes OR if you order early enough (mid-October is usually the cut off for ordering boxes) you can order them in quantities of 100 shoeboxes for a suggested donation amount. See details on ordering the pre-printed Operation Christmas Child boxes here.

Here’s How to Make an Operation Christmas Child Box Now

You might be able to find a local church or organization that has boxes OR you can just use a shoebox of your own. Fill it according to the age group that you selection. Close the box, wrap it with a rubber band and affix the appropriate gender and age label. You can also add your own personal note and/or address. Go HERE to pay for ($7) and print out the shipping label for your box, this will also allow you to track your package.

Pray.

Most importantly, pray over your box and the child who will receive it. You can also include a personal photo and/or note.

Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ideas

Filling your box is part of the fun, and I really enjoy the chance to do these types of activities with my kids. We keep our eyes out all year long for sale items – holiday clearance is a GREAT way to find items for boxes. For example, last Easter we found pre-assembled Easter baskets at 90% off. Once we took the basket apart, the individual items were perfect for our charity boxes. We are always keep an eye out for items to use, and it’s a great way to encourage your children to think of others.
