Frozen Whipped Cream Hearts
These fun Frozen Whipped Cream Hearts are easy to make and SO fun to enjoy as a holiday hot chocolate topper! The kids will get a kick out of this simple addition to your holiday festivities, and of course, you could top off any kind of drink with these fun hearts.
I love that they require very few ingredients and you can make them as simple or as complicated as you like. Either way, the end result is a fun holiday treat for all to enjoy. These Frozen Whipped Cream Hearts are our favorite addition to a cold winter day!
8-ounces Cool Whip
1/4 cup cold water
Optional: Shaved chocolate, sprinkles, powdered sugar, etc…
Add the Cool Whip and water to a large bowl and whisk until smooth.
Line a shallow metal or glass dish with parchment paper and spread the Cool Whip until it’s at least 1/2 inch thick. The thicker these are, the easier they will be to cut and remove from the paper later on. Try to smooth the top as best as you can. I found that using a flexible spatula was the best way to do this.
Place the dish in the freezer for at least six hours but preferably overnight.
About an hour before you’re ready to cut them out, line another small pan with parchment paper and put it in the freezer to get cold. This will be what you put the hearts on as you cut them out. Using a cold pan will ensure they don’t melt before you get them all cut out.
Remove the Cool Whip from the freezer and use a cookie cutter to cut out your hearts. As you cut each one out, place it on the second pan you lined with parchment paper.
When they’re all cut, place the pan back in the freezer for 15 minutes.
While the hearts are freezing back up, prepare your hot chocolate.
Remove the hearts from the freezer and gently place them on top of the hot chocolate and enjoy!
These will melt very quickly once they’re in the hot chocolate but are so cute while they last. Another idea is to float them on top of chocolate milk. Since its cold, they won’t melt as quickly 😉
