Sonic Drive-In Limeades for Learning

I’m so excited to share that we’ve partnered with our friends from Sonic again to share Limeades for Learning! I am such a fan of brands that support great causes to do great things in our communities.

Through Limeades for Learning, in partnership with DonorsChoose.org SONIC has donated $11,902,421, supported more than 27,407 classrooms, and provided learning materials and teaching resources to impact more than 822,210 students. Those are some crazy awesome numbers, right?

Limeades for Learning® is a national award-winning initiative to support U.S. public school teachers in local communities and I’ve shared before how much I love to see Sonic supporting schools in our communities.

SONIC is celebrating Teacher Appreciation Month

Wondering how you can help? That’s the fun part! Starting yesterday, May 8th, SONIC is launched a $1 million donation match with DonorsChoose.org to help public school teachers get the essential supplies they need to inspire their students. Learn more on the Limeades for Learning blog and then select your favorite cause (I love that you can search by loacation!) and donate. Then, SONIC will match their donations dollar for dollar!

UPDATE!!! I’m updating this post to add that our friends at Sonic Drive-IN ended up donating over $1 million to teachers by matching donations!!

Also, now through Friday May 31st, Sonic locations are offering every teacher (and everyone who appreciates them) a free Route 44® Drink or Slush with purchase when they use Order Ahead in the SONIC app with coupon code TEACHERS!!

Anyone is eligible to get a free Route 44 Drink or Slush in honor of Teacher Appreciation Month, just download the SONIC app and use the code TEACHERS for a free Route 44 Drink or Slush with purchase when ordering ahead. Each guest can redeem this offer once May 7 through Friday, May 31! See app for more details.

If you have kids in public school, then you well know that every year public school teachers are spending hundreds of their own dollars to buy supplies they need for their classrooms. Kudos to SONIC for not only seeing this need but for creating Limeades for Learning as a way to help offset some of the teachers costs by providing funding for the supplies they need.

DonorsChoose.org is Making a Difference

The program is successful with the help of DonorsChoose.org, an organization dedicated to making it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need.

Thanks to our partnership with Sonic, we’ve been able to help fun a few projects at the school my children go to. One of their favorite teachers just started a Drama Club and we were thrilled to see that she created a DonorsChoose project so that we could help fund it:

And guess what? Watching the kids perform their first play was amazing. So thankful that we were able to help fund such a neat program and it was all done thanks to a teacher taking the initiative to ask for help and by parents and brands like Sonic stepping up to support the cause!

Last year we, with help from Sonic, we helped to fund a DonorsChoose project that equipped my son’s classroom with alternative reading chairs. How cool is this sweet letter that we received from his teacher explain to us exactly what our donation went towards:

To date, SONIC has donated more than $11.7 million to public school teachers, funding more than 26,509 classroom projects and supporting more than 795,270 students.

Do you know of a classroom in need? Share this information with a teacher! Sometimes getting the help we need is as simple as asking and I really enjoyed looking through these teacher requests and even found a few right here in our community! I highly encourage you to check out the DonorsChoose.org website to see if any of YOUR local schools, teachers and/or classrooms have listed needs there. We are working closely with our school to fund classroom needs that I’ll be sharing with you soon!

  1. My 17 yr old is going to be a math teacher one day, so anything that supports teachers and schools is a plus. There is a project at her former elementary school and we would contribute to that.
