Leprechaun Trap Ideas
Looking for Leprechaun Trap Ideas? If you have kids then you are probably familiar with the concept of Leprechaun Traps.
I’m not sure where the Leprechaun Trap idea originated but somewhere between my childhood – when wearing a speck of green for St. Patricks Day was about as crazy as things got – and now, capturing a Leprechaun in the most creative of traps is the biggest rage.
Leprechaun Trap Ideas
Both of my kids have had, on several occasions, needed to product a Leprechaun trap for their classrooms.
The key to a great Leprechaun Trap ideas is keeping things simple while still creating a trap that will actually get the job done.
Even better if your Leprechaun trap is made with re-purposed or recycled materials.
Work with material that you have around the house. Leprechaun traps shouldn’t be expensive and if you get creative, you should be able to put one together using found objects around the house.
If you have someone in your home who plays with Barbie dolls, we’ve found that Barbie is always good for a few Leprechaun trap accessories. (Think bunk bed ladders, Barbie set accessories, ect)
Some of the best things that we’ve seen for making Leprechaun traps are:
- Empty Oatmeal Container
- Shoe Box
- Laundry Basket
- Green Felt
- Construction paper
- Gold or silver foil
- Cotton Balls (for cloud below your rainbow)
Leprechaun Bait Ideas
A big part of catching a Leprechaun is using the right bait! Here are some of our favorite bait ideas for catching Leprechauns:
- Gold Coins (chocolate covered gold coins work too!)
- Lucky Charms cereal
- Green M&Ms
- Green Milk
- Rainbow Sour Belt Candy
- Rolo Candy (wrapped in gold foil)
If you need to make gold or silver coins, you can always wrap pennies or other coins in gold or silver foil.
There are so many fun ways you can catch a Leprechaun (or attempt to, I should say!) … try to think out of the box. Don’t make your trap so complicated that it falls apart easily or won’t stay together.
Chances are, your child will have to travel to school with the Leprechaun trap, or at least carry it through the halls, so you’ll want to come up with something that stays together nicely without falling apart.
Don’t forget! Leprechauns are small, so Leprechaun traps don’t need to be huge.
