*you can make this with our without a tablespoon of peanut butter – but we definitely prefer the peanut butter chocolate mug cake or cookie! I suggest making it with the peanut butter the first time and then trying it without peanut butter the next time.

My favorite thing about these mug cookies is that it is so much easier than a whole batch of cookies – and making a little peanut butter mug cake recipe is so much faster than making an entire batch of chocolate chip cookies. It’s a yummy little treat that will also save your from eating TOO many cookies at once. (we all know how quickly a dozen cookies can disappear!)

Additional tips for making a Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie in a Mug

If you like, top your chocolate peanut butter mug cake with a scoop of ice cream. Heavenly!

We like mini chocolate chips in our microwave peanut butter cookie recipe – but of course you can also use the full size semi-sweet chocolate chips.

If you like vanilla, you can add real vanilla or vanilla extract – but just a touch as remember, this is a very small batch and it will overpower it very quickly, which is why I don’t normally add vanilla flavoring. This was the first mug cake recipe / cookie in a mug recipe that we ever made and it’s still our favorite.
