As you might remember from my earlier posts about my trip to California with Disney In Home Bloggers, I was thrilled to get to experience some Cinderella magic as part of this wonderful experience.
You can only imagine my behavior then (jumping up and down squealing as my 5 year old followed suit) when our sneak preview of the soon to be released Cinderella Diamond Edition DVD copy arrived. As soon as we quit screaming like 5 year old girls (yes, both of us) … we hurried in to quickly add our Disney Movie Rewards code to our account (a must do!), and then we settled in and snuggled up in preparation for what we knew would be a bibbity-bobbity-beautiful movie!
It has been years (years!) since I have seen this movie, so I really felt like I was seeing it for the very first time, and I could not believe the amazing quality, color and magic (so hard to NOT use the word magic over and over again in these Disney movies, but that is just what it is!) The colors were so vibrant and the movement and sound, just … well, you guessed it … magical.
I have been so excited for this edition to come out. Aside from the beautiful story of Cinderella, it includes so many fun extras, including a wonderful Tangled Ever After short (love!) and a wonderful second screen feature which includes a personalized digital storybook called Bibbidi-Bobbidi-You. This is a wonderful (FREE) interactive story that you can play on your phone, iPod or laptop. It is so innovative, and so fun!
Also included is a wonderful peek into the life of the “real” fairy Godmother,Mary Alice O’Connor. This is a such an added bonus, and a neat peek at just how special things were and are behind the scenes and Disney, and a wonderful reminder about the people and relationships that built the Disney empire that we all have grown to know and love.
I actually got to meet Joan Patricia “J.P.” O’Connor (see photo below) who is the daughter of the “original Fairy God Mother”, Mary Alice O’Connor. So inspiring, and our meeting and interaction with her was truly a highlight of my trip and Disney experience, and only further added to the Disney highlights and memories that I hold close to my heart.
As you might know, this Cinderella Diamond Edition DVD will be released on October 2nd (yay!) … and if you just can’t wait, you can head on over to Amazon and pre-order you own copy of the Cinderella (Two-Disc Diamond Edition Blu-ray/DVD Combo in Blu-ray Packaging) for $22.99 (marked down from $39.99.)
Disclosure: I did receive a copy of Cinderella Diamond Edition to facilitate my review, but all opinions and love for Disney are entirely my own and were in no way influenced by another person. ( a cartoon character maybe, but by no other person 😉 )
