I took this photo of a flag when I was in NY City last summer. There are flags everywhere. You can’t turn around without seeing one. I love that about this country… someone harmed our country and people came together, and the flags went up. I can’t look at a flag without thinking of the lives that were lost on that 9/11 day 10 years ago…and for the high price that has been paid for all of the freedoms that we enjoy now.
My children know very little about 9/11, they are too young. My heart can’t stand the thought of them having to even comprehend something like that … their little world just doesn’t allow for that type of evil. I hate that there are children who did have to comprehend this type of evil when it took loved ones from them on 9/11/2001. What my children do know, is that there are people (like Uncle Scott!) who fight for our freedom and keep us safe. They know that there are men and women that we don’t even know, who sacrifice time from their families to protect us. They know that the brave firefighters and police officers protect and serve. We pray for these people and are so grateful for their service.
God Bless the men and women who lost their lives on 9/11 …. and those who are still fighting for our country today. I will never forget. And while I know that one day my children will learn about the events, victims and heroes of this special day, my mommy heart is so very, very thankful that because of the amazing service and sacrifice of others, my children are protected… and they live and play freely, and that the horrible events of 9/11 are something (that for now) they don’t have to remember. God Bless America!
