The BEST Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Recipe

I’m sharing our favorite Oatmeal Raisin Crisp Cookie recipe today because these are the cookies that I bake the most in the fall.

My hubby loves to take them on his hunting trips, and they make the house smell amazing. We call them Oatmeal Raisin Crisp Cookies, but they are really just oatmeal cookies with raisins and they are so SO good. My kids started calling them crisp cookies, and that and it just kind of stuck.

Ingredients for Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

2 Sticks Margarine (softened)
1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
3/4 cup packed Brown Sugar
1 Egg
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 1/2 Cup All-Purpose Flour
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
3 Cups Oatmeal (you can use Quick OR Old Fashioned)
1 Cup Raisins (we prefer yellow raisins, but either will work)
*You can also add 1 cup of nuts, but I usually don’t. I do, however, sometimes add chocolate chips because: chocolate.

How to Make the BEST Oatmeal Cookies Recipe

  1. Preheat oven to 375degrees.
  2. Beat everything together in the mixer, starting with the margarine and sugars.
  3. Add in the egg and the vanilla.
  4. Add the flour, baking soda, salt and spices.
  5. Mix well and then stir in the oats and raisins by hand. I use an ice-cream scoop to put the cookies onto a un-greased cookie sheet.
  6. Bake 8-9 minutes. Be careful not to over bake. I like to bake until I see the tops turn a hint of golden brown. We like them more on the crispy side.
  7. Cool one minute and then remove from cookie sheet to a baking rack.
  8. This makes a LOT of cookies, usually over 4 dozen. Added bonus: they freeze wonderfully!

  1. The recipe sounds/looks great. QUESTION – what is a “cube” of margarine? Do you mean a stick? Thanks.

  2. Thanks so much for explaining a “cube” – Living in the Midwest, I’ve heard of an ice cube or a cube of cheese.
Looking forward to trying your recipe – they look delicious in the photo.

  3. I just came across this recipe and they are currently baking….note: this does NOT make a lot of cookies…I used a small scoop, and got about 2-1/2 dozen, not 4.
