UPDATE: Giveaway Closed…and the winner of the first “She’s Getting IT Together” giveaway and a Jillian Michaels – 30 Day Shred DVD is:
Kristi B who said that her mission is: Organization! It just makes life better when everything is in it’s place, and there isn’t a lot of excess!
Congrats Kristi! I have emailed you, and I couldn’t agree more! I also want to thank all of you who took the time to share your missions … it made me feel so good to see that so many of us have the same goals in our lives. I am so excited that we can tackle some of these together! Stay tuned for more fun “She’s Getting IT Together” posts!!
…so by “She” I mean, me.
And by “It” I mean … several things.
Things that I was SO going to have “together” several years ago.
And by “Together” … I totally just mean almost, kind of but not TOTALLY Together. I just want to make that really clear right now. I have no expectations of being super “Together” … that would be just strange. But just kind of “with it” would be a nice place to start 😉
These things that I would like to work on, include: Organization, Meal Planning, Fitness and a few other odds and ends that have gotten swept to the side over the past few years of raising kids and all that goes along with that. So…I thought that I would share my missions with all of you in hopes that:
a) We could share ideas and motivate each other…
b) We could make each other feel better about that things that are not totally coming together … (like I said… totally not going for anything close to perfection here…)
First up: Organize. Arggghhh. This does not come easy to me. AT.ALL. But it is something that does make me happy, and I know life is easier when I am feeling more organized. So… the first step in my mission to organize is to just get rid of “stuff!” ick. So sick of stuff. When we were evacuated due to a fire last month … it really made me realize how much stuff we have here that just doesn’t matter. And I read once that you should only keep things in your home that have some type of value to you or serve some type of purpose. If it does either … then give it a place of honor in your home. If it does neither … get rid of it. My first task in the “Organize” mission was to put a couple big empty boxes in every room, and over the past week, I have been taking short breaks (just 15-30 minutes each) and tackling the rooms/drawers/closets one by one … and just filling up these boxes with the stuff that we just don’t need/use/want. It actually feels really.really. good.
My second mission has been Meal Planning. I think that I might just have this area covered with my membership to Relish! I have mentioned them a few times lately … and it is a membership site that I use to plan my meals and do my grocery shopping. Honestly … it has helped out so much, that I am finding that I actually have more time to do fun kitchen stuff like bake cookies and treats. Which leads me to my next mission ……
Mission Fitness! Another Arggghhhhh! I love to be active and be outdoors, and I certainly want to take care of my body …. but again … when to find the time!!? So … it’s official. I will be starting the Jillian Michaels – 30 Day Shred (thanks to some motivation from my friend Jaycie at CouponGeek… I will be dusting off my copy of this DVD) ….which by the way … is on sale on Amazon Right Now for only $8.49 with FREE Shipping with Amazon Prime, if you care to join me! I will be starting on September 1st … and again … I am not going to let myself get all freaked out obsessed (that would be crazy!) …. but I hope to get a work out in at least 3-4 times a week.
…and here’s the thing. I will be adding more “missions” as we go. I even have a few mini missions: Drink more water, read more, eat less sugar, buy more organic … just to name a few. I would love YOUR ideas and input as well … it is so neat to hear how other people find ways to problem solve and make life better. And actually … all I am really doing is trying to simplify. Life is so short, and time flies so fast … I just want to spend my time on the things that really matter… and you just have to clear out the clutter of both your body and mind to do that. SIMPLIFY.
I would love to have you join me … so let me know your thoughts and ideas!! As I take on and tackle these missions, I will be doing some giveaways to help you tackle them with me!! And, to start us off … I will send one lucky reader a copy of Jillian Michaels – 30 Day Shred so you can join me in my adventures! (and hey! no worries … you are also welcome to win this DVD and use it as a coaster … I did that for over 3 months, and it worked great!) … just leave a comment on this post and share with me one of YOUR missions (or join one or all of mine!) … and I will pick one winner at 10pm mnt tomorrow (Aug 31st). One comment per person. Good Luck!
