sandestin beachShe Travels! Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa Review

You know those moments? The ones that you see through your camera lens, but you kind of know that you won’t really need print photos, because the moment is burned in your memory. The ones that are so spontaneous and real. The laughter of your kids, and the genuine joy in their giggle. The moments where you look out at the world from your spot and for just that moment, you are there, present and engaged. I love those moments, and I find that as each year passes, these are the moments that mean the most to me. I want to slow down and enjoy them, soak them in … and capture them. These family trips are such a special way to do just that.

When I was invited to take part in this blogger trip and review the resort, I jumped at the chance to get in some family time … and I am so glad that we took part in this opportunity!

family trip

About the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa: (their words) The Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa rests along the sugar white sands of Florida’s Northwest coast, overlooking the emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico. On a peninsula right in the center of Florida’s Panhandle, the community surrounding the Hilton Sandestin Beach is bordered by the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico on one side, and the calm Choctawhatchee Bay on the other – both providing visitors easy access to beach and water activities year round.

Well-known for the white sands that adorn its coastline the beach along the Hilton Sandestin Beach is made of pure Appalachian quartz, which gives the Gulf waters their trademark emerald-green color by reflecting sunlight back up through the surf. From simply relaxing to engaging in a plethora of water activities, guests at the Hilton Sandestin Beach, surely fine the beach as the focal point of the overall resort experience.

Here is the view as seen from our room (If you look really close, those little specs in the pool on the right side of the photo are my kiddos and my hubby on the lounge chair):

Going Green!

The Hilton Sandestin Beach is committed to adopting green practices to conserve natural resources. The property has recently invested more than $9 million in capital improvements to go green – indoors and out.

In 2009, the resort earned the Florida Green Lodging Program Designation from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for its implementation of recycling programs, water conservation and energy reduction.

As a result of its 2010/11 renovation project, the Hilton Sandestin Beach’s new deck areas are designed to minimize disturbances to nesting sea turtles, their hatchlings, and other coastal wildlife. The deck areas are also made of MoistureShield, an environmentally friendly decking composite. The resort also installed more than $250,000 in habitat-friendly lighting to protect sea turtles and other waterfront animals, and planted more than 30,000 new sea oats
to protect the dunes. Throughout the resort, electrical upgrades to LEED lighting and A/C enhancements totaling $2.5 million resulted in a $50,000 rebate check from Gulf Power to Hilton Sandestin Beach, in recognition of their extreme conservation efforts. Their largest to date, the check marked Gulf Power’s first rebate on their commercial customized incentive program for customers who undertake environmentally friendly improvements.kids krew

To help educate guests about the endangered turtles that call our sugar-white sands home, Hilton Sandestin Beach has recruited Sunny the Sea Turtle, a cute and informative companion who shares information about protecting mother turtles as they lay eggs, hatchlings’ journey back to the ocean, and the resort’s turtle-safe lighting. Sunny also likes to be in pictures. As part of the resort’s new annual summer photo contest, children are presented their own colorful cutout of Sunny upon check-in and encouraged to include him in photos of their favorite beachside adventures. Guests may email their photographs to the resort before the end of their stay for a chance to win a range of prizes, including a family vacation for four at the resort.

What this means for you and me? A resort that cares about the future of our beautiful beaches and coastal wildlife. Refreshing to say the least, but also essential. Add to that the fact that this is SUCH  family friendly place… you almost feel like you were dropped of in the middle of a dream. And the thing is, it’s a win/win for the entire family. Here’s a bit more about why:

Dining (and snacks!) and most importantly a Coffee Shop:

There were so many options for dining and snacking at the resort. Those with a fine dining appetite can enjoy USDA prime steaks and fresh succulent seafood at the resorts award winning  Seagar’s Prime Steaks & Seafood restaurant, which elevates fine dining to a new level. We didn’t eat there, but did take tour, and this place is over the top FANcy.

While there are at least eight options for dining at the resort (actually nine if you count the gift shop, which actually had a pretty good selection of snacks!) we spent most of our time at either the Sandcastle’s Restaurant or the poolside Picnix snack shop.hilton breakfast

The Sandcastle’s Restaurant is a must for breakfast, as you can grab breakfast via the buffet (kids 5 and under are FREE!) It’s a great way to start the day and the pasties are amazing! (They are actually made by the resort’s own Pastry Chef Yascha Becker.)  Little details like this, make for some delicious moments! dessert

Another of our favorite places to eat was the outdoor Picnix Poolside Market, which is located between the resort’s two outdoor pools, with a stunning view of the Gulf’s emerald-green water. A huge hit with the summertime crowd, Picnix offers a menu of chef-prepared breakfast sandwiches, deli sandwiches and wraps, as well as Pizza Hut™ items, Edy’s ice cream treats, soft-serve yogurt and much more. Guests enjoy the convenience of dining poolside – no shoes required ;) This was a really nice stop for snacks because first of all, they are affordable, and they also have nice little treats like bags of popcorn and ice-cream cones, which just add to the fun in the sun when you need a little snack.

The Coffee Shop: As silly as it might seem, this was the icing on the cake for me, as I love my coffee, and it was so nice to have a place to go when I needed a little perk. The newly opened Coffee Shop at the Hilton Sandestin Beach, located off the main lobby, offers a wide array of specialty Starbucks® Coffee, Tazo teas, fruit, soft drinks, and a delicious assortment of homemade pastries, baked fresh by their in-house chef.

Mom and Dad need some alone time?

Kids Krew programs: One unique feature about the Hilton Sandestin is the Kids Krew. Now, I will be the first to admit that going into this adventure, I was quick to think that I would probably not be the parent to take advantage of something like a Kids Krew. I mean, the whole reason that I came on vacation with my family was to spend time with them, right? Well, my opinion quickly started to change the first time that my kids got a glimpse of the Kids Krew play area… they could not wait to check it out. And then they met the Kids Krew counselors…and forget about it, they just wanted to be a part of whatever these super cool “big kids” were doing.

And you know what… part of being a happy family, is making sure that everyone is happy. Having the kids spend time at Kids Krew gave my hubby and I a chance to hang out, and it was so relaxing to know that they were doing something fun as well. Sometimes it is so easy to forget that you need that time to connect without the kids, and that is something that my hubby and I don’t do too often.

Blogger Adventures at the Hilton Sandestin

As part of this trip, the folks at the Hilton Sandestin had all kinds of fun in store for the bloggers that they invited, and this included the chance to spend some really fun quality time with my daughter and enjoy all of the fun that the resort has to offer. I always enjoy blogger invite trips because it never fails, I end up meeting the nicest new people and making new friends. This trip was no exception… and I feel so blessed to have met some wonderful new bloggers and their kiddos.

They started off our adventures with a fun sandcastle building contest, in which each mother and child raced to built the very best sandcastle. It was a blast, but let me tell you… being from Idaho I have not built too many sandcastles and this was not exactly my area of expertise, so our castle (if it could even be called that, lol) was not the best, but we sure did have fun. We then headed out on a hotel wide scavenger hunt that was a great way to see all that the hotel had to offer.

serenity spa

Next Stop: Serenity by the Sea Spa. Next on the blogger event agenda was to send the kids off with the Kids Krew counselors so that the moms could enjoy some spa time! I selected a massage and it was so wonderful to get pampered! The Hilton Sandestin has a beautiful spa and gym located in the basement of the hotel.

The Serenity by the Sea Spa is a full-service salon and state-of-the-art fitness center, the spa provides guests with amenities and treatments to suit every need – including separate private men’s and women’s lounge areas. A sense of inner peace is a beautiful thing. Experience it at Serenity by the sea spa at the Hilton Sandestin Beach hotel and resort.spa

We then met back up with our kiddos, who were beyond giggly and excited over all of the fun that they had at the Kids Krew. My daughter was so excited because she had won a blue ribbon and had also gained a few colorful spots since the last time that I had seen her! Most importantly, she had a blast and was so exited about the new friends that she had made!hilton fun

Are you thinking a family vacation getaway? I highly recommend checking out all that the Hilton Sandestin Beach Golf Resort & Spa has to offer! You can find packages and special offers here. Travel is of the things that we focus on saving money for. We realize that our kids won’t be “kids” for ever, and the moments that we create together are priceless.

During our time at the Hilton Sandestin, I had the opportunity to experience just about all that the resort has to offer. I am a true believer in quality family time, and what I really love about this type of trip is that it gave my family a chance to reconnect in a simple environment. No noise, chaos, video games, crazy running around… it was simple and fun. The beach and the pool. Sitting on the balcony of our room. Walking along the beach looking for sea shells. Sitting out by the fire pit at night. So many things to do, and it all centered around being together and just enjoying our time.

beach fun2beach fun1

I think that my favorite part of this trip was the evenings, when the sun would start to set and the beach would start to clear… and it honestly starts to feel like the most peaceful place on earth. My family had such a wonderful time just walking up and down the beach together. We can’t wait to go back as we have decided that we are now definitely beach people.sandestin from room

cc4Day 2 | Krispy Kreme Blogger Summit: The Total Sensory Experience

I’ve been back from my trip to North Carolina for almost a month now, it was such a fun and exciting trip… so I am excited to share my adventures from Day 2 with you! (You can read my Day 1 adventures here)

Day 2 was probably my favorite day, as they packed so much into it, and of course it all centered around their yummy donuts and coffee! We kicked off day 2 with a coffee and doughnut pairing, and I have to say that is such a great way to start any day! We were giving several flavors of coffee, and then we were given the opportunity to try different combinations of coffee and doughnuts. I have to admit, I had no clue how amazing that the combination between and doughnut and coffee can be…honestly, it was heavenly. I am usually a person that must put creme in her coffee, but this experience totally changed how I drink my coffee…especially if I have something sweet on hand! cc1

For this coffee and doughnut pairing, Branan Wagaman (KK Beverage Operations Manager) and Ron Ruponcinski (Corportate Chef) shared with us their expertise on coffee and doughnuts and how that the two together create an amazing experience!  Here is me working super hard at the doughnut and coffee pairing:

cc3

We were then allowed to ask questions from the Chefs (Ron Ruponcinski and Mark Susz) and that part was really interesting because it made me realize just how much thought goes into every aspect of Krispy Kreme.

After a short break, we then got to sit in a session with Chief Marketing Officer, Dwayne Chambers, which revealed a look into the “what’s and why’s” of Krispy Kreme, the fans, consumers and the driving forces behind the company itself. With each person that shared a piece of the Krispy Kreme story with us, it became more and more obvious that this company runs a little bit different than most. So much emotion and passion go into the process of bringing Krispy Kreme from concept to consumers, and I was so impressed with what a big part the consumer plays in the decision making that goes on.cc6

One area where this is very apparent, is the Krispy Kreme fundraising program. If you are not familiar with it, you might want to check into it, especially if you are a Mom (or Dad) who has ever had to run a team fundraising program. Greg Wood, who is the Director of Fundraising, shared with us how (and why) the program works, and the amazing things that it does in communities. (go here for more info.)

We then proceeded to learn more of the story, from international marketing (holy cow… impressive! Krispy Kreme donuts are all over the globe!) as well as the wholesale market. (I was impressed to see (and of course taste) a whole line of Krispy Kreme shelf products that stores now carry, yum!) cc5

And last, but not least, my favorite part… we spend time with the food experts, Tanisha Randolph (Food Sceintist) and Tim Heatherly (Training Specialist) who helped us to create donuts and specialty drinks of our very own. Here is me and my friend Karen,  from KouponKaren, creating our own doughnut designs:

cc8

I love the creative process, so this part was so much fun for me… and here is the result of my creating:

cc7

my kk

And on that note, our sweet (literally!) adventure was over… and I was so sad to say goodbye to old and new friends, but I love that I have my Krispy Kreme memories!

Thank you Krispy Kreme for a wonderful and Total Sensory Experience!

donutDay 1 | Krispy Kreme Blogger Summit: The Total Sensory Experience

Upon accepting my invitation to the Krispy Kreme Blogger Summit, I was quite certain that if nothing else, this trip would be full of yummy doughnut tasting and a chance to hang with my friends Karen (KouponKaren) and Nicole (NicolesNickels), and also a chance to meet and get to know some other bloggers as well. I am pleased to report that the  Krispy Kreme Blogger Summit: The Total Sensory Experience was ALL of this and more!

castle

I feel in love with my room right away! We stayed in the Manor House at the Graylyn Conference Center.

About: At the Manor House, enjoy the original 1930s resident and guest room floor with all the comforts of modern amenities. The Manor House features thirty-five exquisite guest rooms including the Bowman Gray Suite and the Natalie Gray Suite. The Manor House also features many elegant and private dining rooms, outdoor dining, meeting and breakout spaces.

Let me sum this up for you: Quaint, beautiful, cozy, awesome.room

There were 14 of us bloggers on this adventure and we all headed out to begin our experience by visiting the Krispy Kreme Mix Facility which is just outside of downtown Winston-Salem. This building was built in the 1940s and was the companies headquarters until the 1990s. krispy kreme mix factoryUpon entering the facility, visitors and employees walk under this sign, that reads: Our Mission: To touch and enhance lives through the joy that is Krispy Kreme:

joy

The more time that you spend with Krispy Kreme employees, the clearer that this mission becomes. There really is a sense of joy that goes into every aspect of the Krispy Kreme production process from new product conception, to bringing doughnuts off the line, joy is a very good word to use to describe the atmosphere at Krispy Kreme.

I felt joy as I got to enter the vault and hold in my hands the actual envelope that contains the ORIGINAL Krispy Kreme doughnut recipe:

vault

As I had expected it to be, the Mix Facility was very (VERY!) clean and you could tell that quality control was very tight (Um… except that part about them letting me hold that envelope…do you have any idea how big of a klutz I am? lol) We were able to see the original equipment that was once used to create doughnuts:

mix facility equipment

We also got a peek at the very efficient and high tech way that they create the Krispy Kreme mixes that get shipped all over the world. Our tour ended with a visit to the doughnut production line and the doughnut aroma in this facility was to.die.for!

line

I got to hold this little baby doughnut who got picked up off the line before he really became a “real” doughnut. I did feel a little guilty about stopping him from reaching his full potential, but at the same time, it was really neat to feel the “airy-ness” of the dough before it becomes a doughnut:

donut baby

donut line

donut off the line

… and this was the very best part: FRESH yummy warm original recipe Krispy Kreme doughnuts right off the line. The smell was amazing and then of course we were all giddy when they handed us each a box of hot, fresh doughnuts to take with us… mmmm!

We then continued our adventures with a trip to Old Salem in which we visited the Old Salem Museums and Gardens. The city of Winston Salem, NC is rich with history. In fact, the town of Salem was formed in 1766, and then merged with Winston to become Winston-Salem in 1913, the birthplace of Krispy Kreme (1937).  Just driving through the city of Winston-Salem, you can feel and see the history. We actually got to experience the history with a visit to the the Old Salem Museums which included real demonstrations by tradesmen, and a we were even treated to a real hearthside meal that was cooked just as it would have been in the 1700s:

This is Nicole and I (NicolesNickels) getting ready to enjoy our hearthside cooked meal in Old Salem.

After our time in Old Salem, we headed back to the Graylyn where we then got ready for our next adventure, dinner at the Spring House Restaurant, Kitchen and Bar. Chef Tim Grandinetti, who was recently featured on The Food Network’s “Chopped”, made us a wonderful meal featuring traditional foods and drinks from Winston Salem and the southeast. Ohhhh the food was sooooo good!

This meal was so delicious! I had such a fun time with fellow bloggers, as well as the Krispy Kreme team, they are such a fun and joyous group of people and I am seriously convinced that joy plays a big part in the Krispy Kreme world! After our wonderful meal it was back to the hotel to rest up for the next day, and I will share those adventures with you in my next post.

Day 1 ended beautifully as I climbed into my big comfy bed at the Grayland with my yummy box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts… sweet dreams! (literally!)

When you find yourself posing (giddy!) by two cardboard cutouts of animals from the Winter Woods… you know that you have just fallen in love with yet another wonderful Disney adventure and cast of characters that will forever have a place in your heart. (yup…that’s me… gidddddddddddy!)

So I have been telling you for two months now about my trip to California with Disney In Home Bloggers. One word that seems to continually come up when I talk about anything related to Disney, and it is the word magical. I have witnessed the magic of Disney since I was a child, as most of us have. However, there is a totally different kind of magic that has surfaced for me now that I have seen Disney from the inside out.

My behind the scenes experience at Disney Toon Studios has given me a glimpse into the passion that goes into the making of a Disney film. It’s not that I didn’t think that there was a strong passion behind these films, I figured as much. But to actually sit in a room with the people who created these movies and listen to them talk about the process was and incredible experience.

I got to listen  as movie director Peggy Holmes shared with us the process of creating this film, and I was just feet away from her as her voice cracked with emotion when she spoke of creating the actual moment when Tinker Bell was to meet her sister for the very first time and how important it was for this moment to be absolutely MAGICAL (goosebumps…mission accomplished!)

I got to listen to Ritsuko Notani speak passionately about how she created the newest Disney fairy, Periwinkle , and how much time and perfection went into every little detail.  I even to got sketch right along with her (joy!)

<—Here is my sketch of Tinker Bell, which I now proudly display on my wall, and it brings me JOY every time I walk past it and “remember the magic”.

Another highlight of my visit to the Disney Toons Studio was our visit with Audio Engineer Paul McGrath. He and his team are responsible for getting the character voices matched up to the animation. This is a slow and tedious process, but obviously a very essential element to the making of an animated film.

I even had the opportunity to step into the sound studio and record my own voice in place of Tinker Bell’s voice. It was such a neat experience, and let me tell you… not easy, but I had such a wonderful time and felt so lucky to be in that very spot where the voices of so many Disney characters have recorded!

I am the first to admit, I get all mushy gushy when it comes to Disney, but that’s just the point: Disney gets IT. The people behind Disney get IT. From the perfect color and lighting at just the right time, to the beauty that the right music can add to a scene, or the gait of a forest animal that just seems so realistic and studied… it all comes together to create IT. And IT is magic.

I love IT.

For me, the highlight of this journey was the realization (or confirmation?) that there is a passion that goes into this, and other Disney movies, that money can’t buy … it is real, and it is powerful. I saw it on the faces of the wonderful people behind this film, and feel so blessed to have been allowed into their world for a glimpse behind the scenes.

If you haven’t yet seen The Secret of the Wings, then please…do your heart a favor and watch it with someone you love, IT is wonderful. Where to purchase?  Tinker Bell Secret of the Wings is available right now on Amazon for $29.96.

As part of my trip to California last month with Disney In Home Bloggers, I got to take a very special trip to the Disney Animation Research Library. Where is it exactly? I have no idea. Why? Because it is housed in a secret (shhh!) location, address unknown. Top.Secret. Stuff. And rightfully so, because carefully cataloged, filed, preserved and guarded within this building are years and years of Disney history.

Normally, when you have a group of bloggers in a space as fantastic as this, they are taking photos and tweeting endlessly  … but this was not the case here. We were not allowed to have our phones and/or cameras, only notepads and our memories.  It was actually quite refreshing … an old fashioned “absorb your surroundings” reporting type of situation. The photos that you see here were provided by Disney, and I am so thankful that you get to see a peek at what I saw, because I will honestly remember this for the rest of my life.

Like the moment when I glanced over and saw this:

Hey! that is the flower from Tangled! … and look… right behind it, which you can barely see. . . is the satchel bag that Flynn carried. And next to that, the wanted poster. But that is the thing about the animation library, it is a large building and this stuff is everywhere. You can’t turn around without seeing something that you recognize from somewhere. You just have to give your brain a moment to place the objects that you are seeing with their respective movie. And if you are like me, and have seen some of these movies literally tens if not hundreds of times, then these objects and drawings are tucked deep in your childhood (and adulthood) memories. With each one that I would notice, I would get this crazy lump up in my throat and all goosebumpy excited. It’s that Disney magic I tell you … makes my heart smile!

As you can imagine, security is tight and everything is handled with care because so many wonderful pieces of Disney history are stored here. The storage rooms are climate controlled and the employees wear white gloves when handling the artifacts. Along with being stored and filed carefully, there is still a lot of research going on as to what some of the pieces are, who created them and what movies that they intended to be used for. As it turns out, they didn’t keep such great records years ago, and a lot of the work today is spent piecing  together and restoring artwork from the past. Here is just a glimpse at the many rows and rows of stored artwork:

There is SO much history when it comes to the Disney empire, and it is so neat to see the extreme care and passion that goes into making sure that all of the pieces, down to the tiniest of sketches, get put into their rightful place in history. I am so thankful that I got to experience and share this with you, as it only adds to my love for Disney and the true … yep, you guessed it: Magic!

Don’t forget…  Cinderella was released today! You can purchase Cinderella (Two-Disc Diamond Edition Blu-ray/DVD Combo in Blu-ray Packaging) on Amazon for $22.99 (marked down from $39.99.)

Stay tuned as I have even more to share about my trip to California, including more from Disneyland, Disney Toons Studios, an exclusive meet and greet with Tinker Bell & Periwinkle … and so much more. As you might know, Finding Nemo 3D is hitting theaters TODAY, September 14th … and I could not be more excited. In case you missed it, you can read my own personal review of this movie here.

In celebration of the release of this movie in 3D, I also wanted to share with you my experience interviewing Crush himself (he is a star from the movie Finding Nemo, in case you didn’t know…and just about the “coolest dude eeeeeeveerrrr!”)

Turtle Talk with Crush is located in the Disney animation building at Disney California Adventur Park. If you haven’t yet experienced one of these interactive theaters, they are so neat, and almost mind blowing as Crush himself appears underwater on a huge screen in front of the audience and literally interacts with the crowd. His movements and answers are all in real time and I found myself starting to believe that we were REALLY chatting with Crush, and I can only imagine how realistic this is to a child, especially when Crush is pointing certain people out in the crowd, mentioning what clothing certain people are wearing and even remember certain people’s names!

Here I am with the super cool dude himself…and below you will see a photo of the awesome group of bloggers that I got to experience this with:

To show you just how fun Crush was, here is a video, shared by Tammi Roy from My Organized Chaos. (Thanks Tammi!) One of the bloggers asked Crush, “How many children do you have?”… Crush quickly answers, and then proceeds to list all (65!!! ) of his children by name… which of course left us all in stitches.  Check it out for yourself:

Don’t forget… Finding Nemo 3D hits theaters today…. September 14th which is totally awesome dude!

In theaters THIS WEEKEND…Finding Nemo 3D and let me tell you… it is SO worth seeing!! I had the opportunity to review this movie as part of the Disney In Home Bloggers trip that I attended in California last month and I am so excited to tell you about it!

I have loved the movie Finding Nemo since before I had children, however, I must admit, I think I began to love it for different reasons once I had children of my own, and it quickly became one of our “favorites”. We have probably watched Finding Nemo 100 times together over the past 7 years … and we have countless Nemo books and characters around here.

So, to be honest, when I attended the screening, I wasn’t expecting to be too moved by the 3D version of Finding Nemo. I was actually a bit concerned about maybe feeling like I was watching it for the 100th time (which kind of, I was!) However, it was amazing to me that this actually seemed like an entirely new movie. I mean, it was the same movie…… but different. The ocean was brighter, deeper, the shadows were darker and the water movement was, for lack of a better word, “realer”. When you watch this movie in 3D it is almost like an underwater experience. The ocean comes to life, and the movement of the characters is amazing. It feels like you are right there with them, moving along the EAC. You know, the Eastern Australian Current? Yeah… the EAC. Awesome dude!

One of my favorite characters in Finding Nemo is Dory. Her personality just cracks me up and I love her simple (and very forgetful) outlook on life. Despite everything, she is always positive and always looks at the bright side of things. One of my favorite part of Finding Nemo is when Marlin is dwelling on not {over}protecting Nemo:

Marlin says, “I promised I’d never let anything happen to him.” Dory responds, “Hmm. That’s a funny thing to promise. You can’t never let anything happen to him. Then nothing would ever happen to him. Not much fun for little Harpo.”

From the very first time that I watched this movie, this part really moved me. Such a strong message, and it is one of my favorite lines from all of the Disney movies that I have seen. A great reminder about parenting and life in general.

Here I am with the awesome group of fellow bloggers that I got to enjoy this experience with …

What makes the 3D version so special? I actually had not seen a movie in 3D before. (ok, well I take that back. I faintly remember a seeing a movie in the 90s with some funky (dorky) cardboard glasses that had one red eye and one blue eye and it gave me a terrible headache) So … I had no idea how far 3D had come, and I also had no idea just how comfortable and even relaxing on the eyes that a 3D movie would be. Finding Nemo 3D was almost therapeutic as the scenes were so beautiful and exciting. And although I am pretty sure it is the exact same movie/story as we have seen over the last decade, I kept feeling like I was seeing, and even hearing, new things. It really does feel like a new experience when you see it in 3D!

As an added bonus, we also got to see Disney’s short film, PartySaurus Rex. One word: Hilarious. Ok, second word: AWESOME. This short film had me dancing in my seat and I didn’t want it to end… so charming and LAUGH.OUT.LOUD funny. Here’s just a sneak peek at this fun little movie, take a minute to watch this, it will put a smile on your face, I promise:

Trust me… treat yourself to a heart warming experience and see these awesome films as they hit theaters this weekend, September 14th!

Stay tuned as I have even more to share about my trip to California, including more from Disneyland, Disney Toons Studios, , a fun interview with Crush (Turtle Talk), an exclusive meet and greet with Tinker Bell & Periwinkle … and so much more. (August 24, 2012, Los Angeles, CA) Mommy bloggers attend Disney Consumer Product’s glamorous Cinderella Showcase Dinner at The London Hotel in Los Angeles to experience the new assortment of products celebrating the release of Walt Disney’s classic animated film Cinderella on Blu-ray. The event provided guests with the royal treatment, including pampering and accessorizing with Cinderella-inspired cosmetics and jewelry followed by a showcase of the latest Cinderella fashions set to release this fall.

What would a trip to Disney be without Cinderella blogger transformations? …Ok, it would still be totally awesome, but I have to say, this part of my Disney In Home Bloggers trip was the icing on an already pretty amazing cake.

First stop on our magical transformation was a glance at the Fairy Tale Weddings Jewels by Kate Aspen.
About: Disney Fairy Tale Weddings creates a look that connects to every women’s inner princess. Here, the fairy tale continues with Jewels, a romantic and timeless collection of bridal fashion jewelry, perfect for the bride who wants to add a bit of sparkle on her wedding day.

Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings jewels create a look that connects to every woman’s inner princess. Perfect for adding a little sparkle to your big day, our newly-released jewels are priced from $35-$250. With jewels from Ariel to Jasmine, you’re sure to find a princess-inspired collection to fall in love with.

We each go to select a piece of jewelry from this beautiful line,  and I went with the bracelet shown above. What I love about these pieces is that they magical (in true Disney fashion) and affordable.

After selecting our bling, we were then whisked away (ok, we walked) to the waiting chair of a make-up artist where we were got all glamored up, and then off we went to The Ball…

…err, dinner. But it felt like a ball. (and I had a total ball, if that counts!?)  The food was fabulous and we were treated to a wonderful fashion show featuring some darling little princesses revealing the newest Disney Consumer Products dresses and gowns. This was a darling showcase and so in line with the spirit of all things glittery and Cinderella. Featured in the show were Alfred Angelo wedding and special occasion dresses, are available at Alfred Angelo stores and some other bridal salons. Disney also has a darling line of princess products and sparkly Cinderella dresses is available at Target and Toys “R” Us as well.

Stay tuned as I have even more to share about my trip to California, including more from Disneyland, Disney Toons Studios, my review of Finding Nemo in 3D, a fun interviews with Crush (Turtle Talk), an exclusive meet and greet with Tinker Bell & Periwinkle … and so much more. You can see my previous post about my time at California Adventure and Carsland here.

The magic of Disney is good for the soul. REALLY good.

I had the (amazing ) opportunity to travel to California last week to take part in a Disney In Home Bloggers Media tour. I will admit that I actually had some serious “mom guilt” about going to Disneyland withOUT my kids. However, I have to say… not only did I enjoy myself, but I am quite certain that I came back as an even funner version of the mom that left. Disneyland has that effect on you. It adds a spring to your step, and it helps to to remember the little things that really seem huge through the eyes of a child. Honestly, if you think that  a day at the spa can zap the mom stress right out of you…try a trip to Disneyland without your kids! Of course, I absolutely can’t wait to take my kids back someday, but being there without them gave me time to think of all the super-awesome-cool stuff that they have brought into my life.

Like for instance, when I came around a corner and came face to face with none other than:

…how crazy is it that I instinctively felt the urge to yell “Ka-chowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!” ?? Or that I got a little teary when I saw my ol’ buddy Mater come around the corner (dude, we go way back. I swear that I have stepped on that little Mater toy truck 100 times if I have stepped on him once):

Just image. After 7 years of watching the movie Cars over, and over, and over again … you kind of start to grow quite fond of the place. Radiator Springs starts to seem quite familiar, and the characters (like most of the Disney greats) find a little spot somewhere in your heart that holds the magic of your child at the different moments in time when they were absolutely enamoured with these characters.

Stepping into Carsland was literally like walking into the movie. I felt all giddy just looking around at the actual surroundings. I mean, for real… when you visit Carsland, you are THERE. Time just slows right down to every small detail, including that one yellow blinking stop light in the middle of town. (Oh… be still my sappy mommy heart *sob*)  I can’t imagine how excited my son will be to experience this … it’s Disney magic at it’s finest, no doubt! To top it off, I was able to travel with an amazing group of bloggers, which made this experience even that much more special. I am excited to bring you several more posts on my adventures at Disneyland, Disney Toons Studios, my review of Finding Nemo in 3D, a fun interviews with Crush (Turtle Talk), an exclusive meet and greet with Tinker Bell & Periwinkle … and so much more, so stay tuned and until then…………………  Ka-ping! Ka-powwwwwwwwww!

I am so excited to share with you my next big adventure. Next week, I will be traveling to LA to participate in a blogger trip that just promises to be nothing short of super duper amazing! As a huge Disney fan … I am just over the top excited for the agenda!

My very first memory of a Disney movie was seeing Bambi at the drive-in theater as a child. (oh so long ago)  I remember it being not only larger than life, but truly magical. I have since witnessed that same magic over and over again through the years, especially through the eyes of my children. In my heart, I hold the memory of the mother-son date that I took my son on a few days before my daughter was born (our last activity before he had a sibling to share me with). I also remember fondly the time that we went as a family to see Toy Story 3 and I cried like, well … like a mama …when Andy’s mom was packing him for college. Disney movies have such a way of pulling at our heartstrings and bringing out magical emotion, that only Disney can. Needless to say, I am ultra excited about the opportunity to share and experience more Disney magic with the wonderful folks from Disney and the chance to hang out with some other amazing bloggers.

Many of you are familiar with my good  friend Karen, from KouponKaren. We usually travel together and as you know, work together on quite a few projects. This trip, I will be representing both of our sites, as Karen is not able to attend (so bummed!), but she is a huge fan of Disney and has worked closely with them in promotion over the past year, so I am excited that I will not only be sharing my journey with all of you here on SheSaved, but with Karen’s readers as well.

This trip promises to be full of magic (I’m just giddy!), as the three movie previews that our experience will include are:

FINDING NEMO 3D
In Theaters September 14th & Available on Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack December 4th

CINDERELLA: Diamond Edition
Available on Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack October 2nd

SECRET OF THE WINGS
