Pete’s Dragon  World Premiere

Disclosure: This event and trip to LA was an all expense paid journey sponsored by Disney. All thoughts, opinions, experiences and character crushes are 100% my own!

I am so excited to share with you my experience at Disney’s Pete’s Dragon World Premiere. Typically these are red carpet events, but in this case (because: Elliot!) it was green. It was an amazing evening full of fun and excitement and of course, all things dragon. It all took place at the world famous El Capitan Theatre but before the premiere, we headed to the Roosevelt Hotel for the pre-party:

These premiere parties are always so much fun! Celebrities, directors, producers and cast members are all celebrating their movie release and there is a lot of excitement in the air. It’s fun to try to figure out who is who, and watch them as they partake in all of the party fun! Here I am hanging out with my good friend Karen (Koupon Karen) at the pre-party.

They had some fun green screen photo booths, and I was even able to take a fun flight with Elliot:

Dragon snacks? Of course! Here’s a fun look at what happens when you eat a dragon snack. It gives you dragon breath, of course:

After the pre-party, we headed to the green carpet which was so full of activity and fun. Here’s a photo of me all ready to step onto the green carpet, so exciting:

After the premiere, young star Oakes Fegley climbed upon Elliot and everyone gathered around to take photos. He was so proud of his role in this film, he was just beaming. I’ll be sharing my interview with him tomorrow, so be sure to check back. He did such a fabulous job in this film.

El Capitan Theatre

The El Capitan Theatre is a theatre that is so rich in Hollywood history. Since the 1920’s this theater has been host to some of the most amazing events in Hollywood. We had the chance to tour this fabulous theater and here is a peek at some of my favorite moments on the tour:

Welcome Mommy Bloggers

Step into Hollywood’s glittering past and be treated to an unparalleled movie-going experience powered by the most advanced cinema innovations at The Walt Disney Studio’s premiere cinema, The legendary El Capitan Theatre. This grand theatre made its debut on May 3, 1926, as “Hollywood’s First Home of Spoken Drama.” and has been fully restored to its original elegance, boasting a Spanish Colonial exterior and a colorful and lavish East Indian interior designed by San Francisco architect G. Albert Lansburgh.

The El Capitan Wall of Fame is amazing. I could have strolled through the images for hours. These display cabinets showcase so many wonderful movie moments and events that have taken place at the El Capitan over the years:

The El Capitan Theatre you can experience the most advanced cinematic technology, such as the completely immersive Dolby ATMOSsound system featuring over 100 speakers, the super-brightChristie Solaria series digital projectors delivering crisp, clean images with perfect color, and ultra-realistic digital 3D powered by RealD.Read more on the El Capitan Theatre site here.

Here’s a sneak peek at what a movie looks like from a seat in the El Capitan Theatre. This particular clip shows the introduction of Disney’s Pete’s Dragon. As you can see, the colors are fabulous and the lighting is amazing. This theatre truly gives you a wonderful experience, with a beautiful presentation and amazing sound (and it gives me goose bumps!):

Before each movie premiere, an organ named Ethel rises out of the stage floor where an organist plays Disney music. (One of my favorite parts of the premiere)

The newly installed spectacular 4/37 Wurlitzer has four keyboards and 37 ranks of pipes, each of which represent different musical instruments. It was the last of five magnificent “Fox Specials” built in the 1920’s, and is considered the top of the line in theater organs and was designed with all the “bells and whistles” for movie palaces. It was meticulously restored over a one-year period and installed by G.M. Buck Pipe Organs, Inc. of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Theatre organ experts Gordon Kibbee and Bill Schutz served as consultants on the project and wrote all the specifications. Read more about this Organ here on the El Capitan Theatre site.

Here is a fun photo of us hanging out around Ethel, the famous El Capitan Theatre Organ!
