Winner, Winner, WINesday #3: Flavor Secrets: Back to the Basics Cookbook Review + Giveaway
Rita K says My biggest challenge is to prepare a good healthy meal quickly and not serve that same meal every week
Flavor Secrets: Flavor Secrets is cooking school in a book! Tailored for the home cook, its focus is on how to make fresh, beautiful food right at home. The book includes all major cooking techniques and lots of make ahead ideas as well as how to save money by using leftovers. Chef Lynn’s secrets are beneficial for cooks of all levels. Back to the Basics cookbook is all about building flavor and making beautiful dishes by learning simple tricks that professional chefs use. Recipes are tasty and easy to make at home.
My thoughts? I can honestly say that I have never gotten totally drawn into actually reading a cookbook. I pull them out for recipes, but to actually read on, had never happened before. Right off the bat, I was drawn into the helpful tips and secrets, so much advice, and it’s very useful! I loved that they were not just silly tips to fill the margins, but well thought out hints, like which pans to use for what, and tips on everything from washing veggies to purchasing salts. How to stores vegetables to how to ripen tomatoes, and I am not even kidding ….the ideas and tips and hints go on and on, and you just KNOW that someone who truly “knows their stuff” is sharing all of this.
I also love that with each recipe, Lynn gives ideas for leftovers (LOVE this!) and she always offers more secrets for each recipe to help simplify things for you. My goodness this is just such a neat collection of experience and education and it really made me feel excited about cooking! This book would also make an excellent gift!
Where to purchase? Flavor Secrets is available at www.spitzpress.com and you can also find this book on Amazon here where it sells for $35.00.
The Giveaway: ONE lucky SheSaved reader will win a copy of Flavor Secrets: Back to the Basics Cookbook by Lynn M Miller.
