Jan Brett’s Home for Christmas Book!

I am excited to kick things off by sharing something that I am really passionate about… BOOKS! I was recently asked to be a Scholastic Book reviewer, and of course I jumped at the chance!!

What book did we choose to review this month? With the holiday in full swing, we thought that it would be fun to read Jan Brett’s Home for Christmas… and like all of her other books, it did not disappoint!

About the book:  A wild little troll runs away from home because he doesn’t want to do his chores. Rollo tries living with various woodland animals, but he finds out that there is no place like home, and returns to his family just in time for “the best Christmas ever.”
Among the animals who take him in are an owl family, a mother bear and two rambunctious cubs, some playful river otters, a hungry lynx and a friendly moose family.
Jan Brett creates an irresistible, mischievous character that kids will recognize in themselves. Jan transports us to a glorious Scandinavian landscape where a beautiful fall turns into a magnificent snowy winter. Her signature borders depict the troll family missing Rollo, and animals as appealing as those found in The Mitten.
A warm, fun-loving Christmas picture book for families to share and love and laugh over together.

Our thoughts? I love hardback books … especially children’s books and of course, the illustrations in Jan Brett’s books are always amazing. I love getting lost in these stories with my kids, it feels so much like a real adventure and I know that their little minds love it too. Beautiful books like this one are wonderful for tucking in with the Christmas decorations and pulling out each year to read over and over. This book is so magical that we love to take our time looking at the beautiful drawings and noticing all of the little details… these are the things that we remember from year to year when we pull the book out again.

*Disclosure: I did receive  this book  to facilitate this review, however these opinions are all my own… I truly, truly love books 😉
