Killer day with the doublers… and thank heaven for my WONDERFUL cashier! She was such a help, as you must do the doublers in segments of 3 per transaction. Regarding these transactions, this would be a good time to tell you that I am not a huge fan of getting 10 of something. Usually, the most of something that I will get is 4, which is the number of people in my household. If a manufacturer is running a deal (like quaker, post, etc…then I will stock up, because that is their intent…they build walls out of product for crying out loud!) But if it is a coupon deal for “FREES”or very “CLOSE TO FREES” I try to keep stay within my household limits and save some for the next chic. (the “do unto others” of the coupon world….) I get two Sunday papers and then collect a couple coupon inserts from family. I really try to stay within the limits of what the manufacturer and store intends to be done with coupons. That is just me. I am definately not a fan of clearing off store shelves. I feel best about my purchases when I am playing by the rules. . . and I just had a manager explain to me that they are having a hard time with people getting 20 packs of toilet paper and such just because they buy 20 papers. His biggest concern is that the brakes will get pulled on couponing all together…. (gasp!)so…anyway…enough said. The one thing that I have learned about these deals…is that there is always another one coming down the pipes.
So here is what I got:
4 Packs of Scott Toilet Paper (doubled the $1.00 off coupon – so these cost me about 17 cents each) * Quacker Snacks were FREE by doubling $1.00 coupons * Right Guard was FREE by doubling the $1.00 off in this past Sundays paper (it is on sale for $2.00 each) … now what happened next surprised me (I love surprises!) … just after I rung up the second deodorant, a $2.50 Gatorade catalina printed… so I purchased the 6 pack of Gatorade for 50cents * 2 packs of Rhodes Frozen Rolls using $1.00 off coupons, doubled, these were like 69cents each * Quaker True Delights were 50 cents after a doubled $1.00 off * A McCormik Spice was 99cents after a doubled $1.00 off * Halls Cough Drops were FREE with the $1.00 coupon (pretty recent coupon, but not sure exactly when) doubled * Huggies Baby Shampoo was FREE with the doubled $1.00 Huggies coupon from Sundays inserts, this was found on clearance * Capri Sun for 50 cents by doubling the $1.00 off in last Sundays inserts (it is supposed to be for a new brand called Sunrise, but my Albies doesn’t have it yet, so they substituted it for me. 2 Jugs of International Delight Coffee Creamer of which I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT… doubled the $1.00offs making these 99cents each * And last but not least, I needed brown sugar so I doubled the 35cents off coupon for that making it just over $1 and I also doubled a 75cent Bagleful box for my husband who got addicted to these back when I got several on that Kraft deal… it was an ok deal at $1.50.
………….and I apologize that I don’t break it all down exactly (not even CLOSE to being in my nature to be that organized) …. but when I add up all my receipts for 7 transactions including 3 doublers each ( I did 3 at one store and 4 at another) my total OOP was $8.88. Total saved: 39.99.
Plus on one of my reciepts I earned a FREE loaf of Albies French Bread, and of course, added some more moula to my gas discount (they base gas discount on actual retail amount, not what you actually spent…wahooo!)
Please feel free to ask if you have any questions!!
*How did I get so many doublers? 2 sets in papers and my manager (that I love!) gave me a few sets because I forgot to use mine last time! and I did 2 different trips. I always ask first, and I am finding that they are getting pickier and pickier about these things…so just follow the rules of the store/manager…they want you to use them, just not abuse them, lol!
